This was great, I really love the art style, and the narrative. The idea was cute with a real world message at the end. I struggled with the camera though, it took me a bit to get control of the camera, and it was hard to get the ducks as the space to catch them was small but the controls were quite slow so turning to get the hook on the ducks was difficult. The lighthouse was a great call when it goes dark at the end, I found my way back purely because of that. Lovely game.

Thank you so much for your comment, I am so glad that you enjoyed it! Most of our artists had asked to be supported by someone else during the jam when signing up as for a lot of us this was our first game jam and we are new to game dev. So we ended up with a lot of art and our programmer project managing us with what was doable in the time haha. We definitely got excited about the project and got carried away haha!
Totally agree with your comment about the water. We realised later in development that it wasn't necessarily clear that you couldn't cross and talked about adding visual cues or adding a river to the corridor as a mini tutorial to force the player to cross the bridge but ran out of time. Having tot say something about it though probably would have been an easier solution 😅
Oh! There totally is! I think because I was looking at the top of the screen I hadn't even noticed it. I think having that bar remain on death or putting it on the screen in the middle would be really good, as I think it's hard to see what your score is without dying. Thanks for pointing that out, just replayed it again and beat my score haha!
I loved this! It's such a simple concept but really well executed. I love the fact that the good stuff glows or sparkles to show what you should go over, the snowball has great art to give it movement and I really like the added feature of the subtle icon in the snowball to show which direction you are heading. The only thing I can think that would have improved it, is that on my first playthrough the spikes and red balls are obviously bad, but the slight bump I thought was like a lump of snow that was good so I died rolling over these haha! Other than that really minor thing though, it's a really well executed game and looks great!
I really like the premise of the game, and I feel like I would like to know more. The outside spaces were a little large, I think smaller areas would feel less like it's easy to become lost, but I think it's a lovely start on what could be a really great adventure game. I love the art, particularly the room with the flowers on the floor and the final screen is really nice too. I hope to see more of what comes in the story :)
I really like what you were going for here, I got a kinda spore vibe of where you were starting as a tadpole and growing as you ate but I found the controls very difficult to use so I didn't have the accuracy needed to target the food. I could see this being a fun game thought if you tweaked with the controls a bit. I like the concept :)
I adore games like this. I could really see this being a beautiful narrative story through all sorts of landscapes if you chose to develop further. Unfortunately the game didn't look like it does in the screenshots - everything was blurry which made it difficult to make out what was going on - which I assume is a bug. The writing is lovely though, and it still feels good. I'd love to play it through if you developed further. Hope to see more of rolling bear <3
This is a great prototype for a really big game for a jam! I can totally see the inspiration from Animal Crossing style game play that you are going for. I think balancing the combat out a little bit would be good, but I can see this being something that you add to over time. Genuinely got jump scared as I walked towards them and they darted at me haha!
I really love the mechanic in this of being able to inflate for protection but can't move as fast. I feel like it's well balanced between protection and speed and would be good to develop further and add enemies or other obstacles. I got a little lost at times as there were so many routes I could take, but the collectibles helped me understand where I had been so this was a great way to help the player.
Unfortunately I couldn't get your game to work so haven't been able to play it :( It'd be good to have a start screen or start on the pause screen even with the controls as it took me quite a while to figure the controls with them not being listed in the description. As soon as the game starts I die, and with the controls only being listed at the bottom of the playable screen (and not the death screen) it was a little hard. Once I knew the controls I couldn't get jump to work which meant I wasn't able to avoid monsters. From what I can tell though, the game looks nice, and the coins and sound all work well. Would have loved to be able to experience a little more ^^
