Hey, we finally released the first beta version of Tales of the Shepherd today.
Since we put quite some effort into this project, we wanted to feature it here as well.
If you're up to some dungeon delving, we'd be really happy for you to check it out :)

Tales of the Shepherd is a roguelike inspired by the look and feel of classic ASCII games,
while also adding new mechanics and unique gameplay elements.

It features:

  • Randomly generated dungeon floors
  • Turn based combat with many different weapons, spells and potions to discover
  • Survival oriented gameplay
  • Three unique levels with different enemies and themes
  • Permadeath (with optional easy mode)
  • Retro 8-bit ASCII graphics
  • NES style chiptune soundtrack

Thanks a lot, we're glad you enjoyed it! We did our best to get everything as polished as possible in the little time available.

Thanks, it's made with Godot

Love the pixel art!
The game is really fun. I just wished there were more levels :)

The simplistic artstyle is awesome!
Is it just me, or are the puzzles really hard :D
I basically got stuck on level 4

I like the idea, also the graphics are really nice. I especially like the transition between the menu and level :)

The graphics are awesome!
Really like the idea of the two distinct abilities

I really can't figure out how to play :D
How do I attack another computer?

I really love the idea, and the characters are adorable :)
It's just a bit buggy when pressing 'T' multiple times, while breaking down a wall.

This was our first game jam, and we finished with four hours to spare.
Definitely weren't crunching for the last 24h.
Time to get some sleep... :)
