I tried to make this playable on web, but couldn't get the environmental lighting to work right.

No it's not a rip-off of anything.

But it's basic mechanics are inspired from Asteroids.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the kind words😃

heh, should have put in the game's page to pause the game once when in someone's page, thanks for the tip!

Actually you become invincible when you get hit for 4 sec, if you pause the game you can see the instruction.

The ramming mechanism is to make the game easier for people who find it hard, it's not at all necessary to do so, however dashing is to avoid the enemies.

Also, hope you found the secret ending ;p

Heyo!
There is now a mouse control version!
For those who want the Pre-Jam game, check Monout_v1.2[Keyboard].
Those who love their mouse, check Monout_v1.2[Mouse]

😅 Thanks for playing :)

Actually, that's the level barrier, the screen will unlock as you level up

Thanks:)

First of all BEAUTIFUL game, i absolutely adored the graphics of the game. The audio was fine, but the real star of the show, imo was the art and gameplay itself.
Speaking of gameplay, it was really good given that we only had a week, this game has solid foundations of a shoot 'em up.
My only real gripe, is that of the controls. The controls were good and quick, but this would have even better with a keyboard config. [i am sorry if it sounded rude, but i like shoot 'em ups to have a keyboard config :P] Anyway, this is only my opinion and i won't let it affect the ratings.
TLDR; A really awesome little game with a cool working shield mechanics and killer graphics.

Nice game :) I really liked the aesthetic of it, especially those backgrounds. The music was good enough to keep me engaged, and i liked the way the the level progressed, more and more difficult AI came at you with more civilians to save in each level, i also adored the transition between levels.
My only complaint are the controls, i found it really hard to hit left, every other directions it was snappy and quick, this was fine in earlier levels but became really frustrating in the later levels.
All in all, a REALLY REALLY good game.

😀

Thanks, i previously had only normal bounce mechanics, but i changed it after replaying the original again :)

Heh, since the submission time is nearly over i will put a option for mouse controls after jam is over :)

Thanks for answering :)

I have 2 questions (i am a newb, you see:p)

1) When will the games be played, like will there be a buffer time after submissions have ended or it will be live right away (asking this, so i can make sure i watch the stream :p)

2) Will the stream be archived in the twitch account? Or is it only a 1 time stream?(asking so that by chance i miss it, i can watch it later)

Sorry for my general lack of awareness, i don't watch twitch (only participated in twitch plays pokemon), the only knowledge i have is that of youtube (my primary media site), so all my knowledge is from that only.

Oh and that Santa unity splash screen ? Awesome!

This is really funny, yes i found this game funny and good (ik i am weird :P)
Playing this made me realize that, if not for the rushed development process ET could have been so good.
The theme of this game was very simple yet effective [could not finish the game, got caught :P]
The controls were good and not sluggish.
One thing i really liked was the options screen before the game, simple yet effective.
I really liked the simplistic 2D art, gave that modern atari vibe.
Overall, a pretty good game showing what ET truly could have been :)

This is really good!
The graphics also fit the style of the game, the AI is too simple though :P but  i can easily overlook it because we only had a week max. to make our games.
Sorry, I could not see the music cause in my timeline it's night and everyone is asleep (and i forgot my headphones in my parent's room :P)
My only real complaint is that the game is very choppy, now that could be cause of my potatoe PC (most probably it is) but nevertheless I really enjoyed playing it!
Btw for some strange reason i could not open the config, is it a in-game bug or my luck is very bad?

Such a good game :)
I have not played the original combat 1977, but playing this i can definitely say that this (OG combat) would have been my favorite game on the system.

Yeah, ET is an alltime classic (sarcasm for the serious types)

I am only starting out (+exams), so keep your expectations reasonable please 😅

His game is a bold move, my dear friend viTekiM (hope I spelled it right) i pray for your success, may you fullfill your task of making a good ET game :p

Looks interesting, i would love to play it when it gets released!

I am working on Monout (breakout inspired), this is the only game i have played on an actual atari (Yes, a highschool kid has played atari:p) so i thought it is only fair that i do the remake of a game that i have played irl!

I know a lot of you guys will be thinking that, "oh, another breakout clone meh".

But hear me out, there is a story behind it. You see, when I was 6-7 my cousin had an atari with breakout, so whenever i went to visit him during summer breaks we both would play it till dusk, fighting to see who could last longer. Hence, this game holds a special place in my heart ❤

This is the reason i chose to remake it out of plethora of games available for atari.

Hope you guys enjoy playing it as much as i did making it :)
