Hey Ror-2D!

I'm sorry that your game was disqualified, but I hope you do understand the reasoning behind it since the judges couldn't play your game at the time.

Regardless of that, I was able to get you some feedback:

Portal Ball has an interesting puzzle concept, but it would benefit from additional polish. The graphics are currently simplistic and use prefabs, and there's no sound. The game lacks a button to return to the menu, pause, or anything like it.

An initial stage that serves as a tutorial, explaining how the panels and portals work, would greatly enhance the overall experience. While the mechanics are easy to understand, new players may find them confusing. Additionally, a bar indicating the charge level of the jump and improvements to the ball's movement would be beneficial.

While the game is already challenging, disabling the portal after it opens upon hitting another surface may not be the best game design decision. However, this is ultimately up to the developer. Overall, Portal Ball is an intriguing puzzle game with plenty of potential for growth.

I hope that helps you on your developer journey!

Hello, hello!

After playing all your games and voting accordingly to our established criteria, we are happy to introduce our winners! But before we do that, Gameflip must thank everyone that joined our first Gameflip Game Jam! It was a blast for us over here and we took note of your feedback and are eager to improve on our next edition, hopefully later this year!

As explained before,  this is a new initiative to provide incentives to the indie dev community that is the general backbone of the game universe. While we had some issues and - unfortunately - had to remove some games from the Jam (you can read below who and why), the overall results were incredible for a first event of this kind. And now, without further ado, our winners!

  • Parry boy-Alfa by N E K T A
  • Typo Type by ChillyField
  • Comet Outlaw by Uruca Game Studio

Congratulations! Each will receive $100 for winning the Game Jam! We would like for the winners to provide their Discord IDs below - or any other preferred method of online communication, so that we can provide the payment of your prizes! All creators are welcome to share their contact as well, as all games are considered for the revenue-share publishing deal.

The entries removed from the Game Jam were:

abad tower game (totally cool)Portal Ball: For not having a functional executable file.

- Wild Hare Run: A Quest for Carrots: For providing a prank entry.

All other games received feedback and we hope all the best for each and everyone that joined this game jam. See you all at the next one!

Hey JVegaB!

The results will be up on Friday the 31st, feel free to refer to this topic if you wish to learn a bit more about it: Last call for submissions

We will not do a Live or anything like that, at least not for this edition. But the idea is interesting and maybe it can happen at a future Jam!

Thanks for your question and good luck!

Hey there everyone!

Our first Gameflip Game Jam will close in about 7 hours for game submissions! So hurry up if you haven't sent your game yet!

After this period, we'll deliberate and post the results by Friday, the 31st.

The games will be judged into 4 categories:

  • Theme: Is your game hypercasual? Is it simple to learn, yet hard to master, and the matches are short?
  • Creativity: It's an ample theme, so how did you explore it? Did you create something new and unique with it?
  • Fun: How fun is your game to play? Do the players want to go again and again against your challenges?
  • Presentation: How good/polished your game looks? How easy is it to understand its UI?

The results will come from the overall score. The judges' decisions are final. We will try to provide each game with short one-paragraph feedback as well.

Thanks for participating and we'll see you all on Friday!

Hey Nickius!

Each person/team can only submit one game, sorry for not clarifying the rules.

Cheers!

We'll create a post requesting that those who won post their discords so we can communicate with them and send their prizes \o

Hey there!

We actually don't have a Discord server for the Jam, but thanks for asking, maybe we could create one for our next edition if people think it's helpful (:

Hey hey!

3D is allowed for sure, don't worry about that, people are likely just doing the style they are most comfortable with. (:

No problem man! Glad to know you had fun (:

If your game is selected maybe you could pick a charity institution and we can make a donation of your prize!

Cheers and good luck!

Hey there!

Yeah, feel free to use your own art style! We are not making any requests or demands regarding this kind of thing, be yourself (:

Cheers and good luck developing

Movement mechanic? Sure thing, no need to recreate it.

Hey hey!

Yeah, we just want to know if your submission is want you wanted or something you had to send before time ran out.

Hello there!

I believe levy0's reply is precise enough (thanks for the help). So I'll just add: I can see how the general idea of FPS fighting waves of enemies can work if well executed to meet the theme.

Good luck (:

Not necessarily, though it is the most viable option I can think of.

On the other hand, maybe your game is something that players will naturally finish before 5 minutes and will try to always beat their previous time.

Hey there!

Thanks for bringing up this topic! So, by sub-5 minutes we mean games that need to be completed in less than 5 minutes, something like 'do the best you can in this time' (:

Good luck \o

Hey there Creativityinprogress!

I just realized that maybe we didn't make clear enough what we want.

While you are free to create a leaderboard, which would be awesome, all we would like to see is, by the end of the session, the final score - no need to save in a DB or anything like it.

Thanks to bring this to our attention!

Good luck developing (:

Hey there Stunite!

We understand that game jams can be challenging, and the time period may not always be enough to create a fully polished game. However, it's important to note that the judges will be looking for complete materials, even if they are not polished to perfection.

If you find that you are not able to finish your game as you had originally planned, don't worry! You can still submit a demo build of your game, which is better than nothing at all.

We are excited to see what you create and are looking forward to playing your game!

Hey everyone!

I'm Lam, content creator at Gameflip, and we are proud to have just launched our first Game Jam - though it will only begin next week (03/16). And there are prizes for the taking!

This is a small first step from us toward incentivizing indie development, which we are aware is the backbone of the game industry, but we hope it won't be the last.

I hope you all participate and enjoy your time with us, feel free to ask about anything at all, we would love feedback from the community.

Cheers!
