Wonderful game!

This game is a good example of what I like to see from a Jam game. Arcade style high score games work so well for jams because they are short and replayable. The main issue I had with this game was how difficult I found it to control the gun ‘powerup’ which made the game so much harder to manage. I feel this could have been made clearer to the player. I think if the game had some enemies that popped up the gun would feel more useful, and you would have a trade-off between player control and gunning down enemies. Without the gun however, the player controls like a dream. While some of the games graphics don’t look amazing I can tell what’s going on and I love the little character dude. Same for the sketchey tileset. Sound design too is on point! Sound effects are crunchy which is great for an arcade game. Nothing stands out about the music but sounds nice and isn’t repetitive. I must give you so much praise for that intro though! It’s amazing and is so, so funny. Reminds me of trying to make a game with a friend when I was younger. Well done on this submission!

I found this game to be hilarious yet couldn’t get over the missed opportunities with the game. The Monster looked so out of place in this world, people would react to you in the most nonchalant way imaginable and the fights and weird endings were hilarious. I just wish there was more to it than walking through a city and attacking random folks. The only things I could destroy were cars. You could have ramped the destruction up to 11 by making it so you got into battles with entire buildings. Nothing in this game mixed together so you definitely fit the Jam criteria.
Gameplay wise, it reminds of a mix between bubble bobble and Wario land 4. This is high praise and meshes together surprisingly well! Not only does this game make you want to gain a high score it makes you want to build (and keep) the multiplier as high as possible. I spent hours addictively hunting for as many instruments and gems as I could get my mitts on in order to build a high score multiplier. There was an amazing rush from reaching the cauldron with a high multiplier and number of instruments on hand with seconds to spare. The tense sound and music design only exasperated this tension to great effect.
Now there are a few issues with the game, however. It is way too hard. You have to reach a target score so high to clear the stage that one wrong move destroys your chance to build up the score needed. This is because taking one hit destroys your multiplier. The stage also has a number of blind spots where you are likely to trip up on at first. Jumping and double jumping can also be a little problematic due to there being little to no coyote time and falling does not allow you to use a double jump. The game could also do with a way to cancel out of the pounce and wall climb move.
Overall, this Game is super well made for a month-long game jam and shows bundles of future potential. The character has so much personality thanks to some amazing sprite animation and intro cutscene. That intro cutscene really makes me want to jump in on her wicked scheme and the music for it fits perfectly to set the tone of the crazy plot. Enemies are really creatively designed with simple but effective attack patterns and again beautiful sprites.
I hope to see more in the future!
