Hey, thank you for playing, I'm very glad you enjoyed it for the most part.

I knew the movement might be problematic because I thought it would be too slow. But you've brought up some feedback I've not heard before.

When you say it felt too fast did you maybe sometimes move one square too far? Did you play with the cell highlight on or off?

Could you elaborate on the turning in place thing, maybe with a concrete example from another game? This is actually possible but it only happens when you can't move in the desired direction.

As for the auto-climbing I can see how that may be annoying, I think I'm just going to make that an option though, gonna have to see about the controls.

And yea, I totally agree that the camera still needs some work in certain puzzles.

But once again thanks for playing!

That is strikingly similar... Thank you for telling me!

Thank you!

Yea to be fair the ending is pretty bad imo. I just kinda rushed it because it was made for a GameJam.

Appreciate the honest feedback!

That's certainly possible! I imagine they change the inner workings of their site quite regularly so I was wondering when this would happend.

I'll look into it!

This was made in Unity.

It totally is, yea! I read a lot of this wiki when making the game. Originally I wanted to have a lot more levels but was restricted due to the Jam deadline. The game is more of a reinterpretation of common descriptions/images you usually see of the Backrooms however.

All the music in this game was custom made specifically for it. I'll add a downloadable soundtrack to the page.

Hey, thank you for the suggestion! Originally the pixelated images were a result of me not being able to filter out the full image links. But later I realized I could do that as well so then I just kept the pixelated look to fit with the PS1 style. I might add a full image view in a future update though, need to fix a few bugs anyway.

Hm I've just noticed that myself. It's a pretty strange bug. It doesn't actually softlock, you have to click on the text box first. The loading icon seems to appear when ever you interact with something, be it the request pedestal, any image or info pedestal.

Gonna look into it, thanks for letting me know!

Thanks!

The floor bug seems to be a precision issue that occurs when you walk out too far. It's also something that used to happen in old Unity versions so maybe it's back?

Oh that's not good... What kind of errors is it giving you?

Some one has brought up the idea of doing the same thing but instead of Google Images it's your own harddrive, which is super interesting to me as well!

Hm, yea it is quite a long standing issue. I'll see if I can still get the project to run on the latest Unity version and then fix it. If it doesn't run (which I doubt) then I'll probably make some sort of remake/remaster in the future.

Oh I certainly do have plans to continue this/make another game in this setting!

I just need to find the time and motivation for it.

Argolis is a challenging Boss-Rush set in ancient greece, it combines First-Person movement with fast paced melee combat requiring quick reflexes and well timed reactions.

The Demo is available right now: https://jan-malitschek.itch.io/argolis

Thank you very much!

Also, yes the title is intentionally like that.

There is one ;)

Thanks! I would've like more things to do as well but I wasted a lot of time during the gamejam on things that weren't included because they didn't work out. So yes, unfortunately gameplay-wise there isn't too much going on.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

I might consider an endless mode at some point; originally I was going for one but it turned out to be too complex for the Gamejam.

In Lost in the Backrooms you explore the Backrooms which you have accidentally clipped into.

While doing so you uncover the story of an unfortunate individual who has been there before you.

Play Lost in the Backrooms

Thanks!

And now that I think about it you're right! I forgot to enable the resolution launcher. Might push another update soon.

It's very atmospheric. I wouldn't say nothing chases you but definitely not in the usual way.

(1 edit)

Thank you very much for the video and the kind words. In fact, I'm the only person behind the game so it means a lot :D
