Hi everyone!

I’m a programmer with some experience with embedded and constrained systems, I’ve been part of the GBA scene for a while, but took a break due to many things irl. Now that the game jam is there, I’d like to put some work in creating something original and interesting, while pushing the hardware to its limits.

Unfortunately, my skills are fairly limited outside of engine and game programming itself, so I’d ideally want to have someone else thinking about the game design itself; I can try and help my best, but I really like coding. Likewise, graphics and audio design are non-skills for me too, but what I lack in those I excel in programming. I know intimately the details and intricacies of the GBA hardware (at least to the best of my knowledge) and I can help bring some awesome ideas to fruition with it. I’m still just a novice on 3D on GBA though.

You can reach me on Discord on the gbadev server or through my username: joaobapt. Good luck to y’all!

Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to implement the actual simulation of the dungeon. The idea was so the adventurers would actually be running randomly into it (think about tower defence), but since everything was semi-rushed in the last 5 days of the compo, I didn’t have time to properly think about it.

I’m sorry about the “experience” you had with gba-modern :D In fact, I never thought it to be a reusable library, more something I could use to make my own games myself. At some point I thought into separating it in libraries and reusable components, but I never really went that far, which is a shame, since there’s a lot of code and research there that I’m proud of. I hope you have the best of luck with your game!

Hello! I'm willing to (try to) participate on this Game Jam again, this time with motivation and a clear scope! I am a professional software and game dev, and I have contributed a little to the scene with a custom build toolchain (that is, honestly, obsolete now) and trying to make some progress into a full game for the GBA. Unfortunately, professional means I work, so I don't have a lot of free time, but I'll try my best to be there and not leave my teammates hanging 😅 Also, while I can code a lot, I can only do very rudimentary art, and I have a bit of knowledge of composing, but nothing of sound mixing. Don't worry, though, the for the sound part I have access to a few libraries of sound that we can dive though to find something (all licensed, so don't worry either).

The project I want to make is very simple. I'll probably try to make a scrolling shooter/bullet hell with the knowledge I amassed from my previous tentative, and I'll try to keep the scope small. But, as a coder, I want to try to pack as much of "hardware shenanigans" as possible (which will probably lose to a 3D game because, well, those are really impressive!).

You can see some of my contributions in my GitHub repo: https://github.com/JoaoBaptMG/gba-modern. If you head over to the Discord's #showcase tab, you can also find some cool stuff there.

Hello! I am a programmer and I would like to focus on coding the difficult details of a game, especially the engine and the structure. I have already some experience with C++, game engines and the GBA per se (you can see my work on the GBA here), as I have some done some experiments to push the GBA's hardware as further as I can. However, I really flop on art and character/tilemap design, and I would like to know if someone wants to join me on this endeavor! I have not yet decided which will be the genre and/or the details of the game, but we can do that together.

Anyone interested in joining me?
