For anyone seeing this in the future, a new build has been uploaded with a difficulty setting and the ability to right click on students to instantly open their page.

Thank you so much! That's a really excellent recommendation, I'll likely make an updated version with that change in mind. And you're right that we didn't provide enough time, we could definitely have included a difficulty setting for slower readers. Our goal is was to make a game for everyone after all.  Your review is really appreciated, thank you again!

This game was super fun! I played it for an hour or so trying to solve it. Not sure if I did because when I submitted a solution it just said "click to return to menu" and then froze and I had to close it. Really awesome game though!

Very fun and cute! Great work.

Very fun! Good music and level design.

Thank you!

I definitely think in a full version of the game that'd be the case. For how short this one is though, we wanted to really make sure the player knew the UI was open. I appreciate the feedback!

Thank you!!!

Thank you so much!

I am absolutely floored by the presentation here. Sound, art, and voice acting were all top notch. Great use of the theme too. I'm super impressed.

Really enjoyed the art. Also total respect for anyone who makes a card game in a game jam, even a simpler one like this. I think a little bit of sound design (drawing cards, your brother complaining, etc) would've made this really fun.

Thanks a ton. Should be public now.

This was really fun! Great use of theme and the jumps felt really nice. The middle levels where spikes were walls totally broke my brain. I would've loved to see a level where I played as a flag or a spike if you had more time.

This was amazing! Love the game feel. The screen shake, the particle spawning, the camera work; it's all top notch.

Really cool game. Great style and really interesting mechanics. I got a bit motion sick at times and the sound design was a bit painful, but I really think you could flesh a game like this out a lot further.

This was really fun and a good use of theme! Only wish it was a little faster.

Thank you! Your praise means a lot to everyone on the team.

So our idea was that you are literally running "out of controls" . How do you think we could have pushed this further?

If you ever expand on this, please add multiplayer and respond to this comment immediately.

That was awesome! This might be my favorite game of the jam so far in terms of play and aesthetic. I only wish it was longer.

From a design perspective, I think it would have been interesting to have damage be represented by the amount of power you have, rather then just a flat 2.

That was a fun and cute little game. Good work!

Please run the game at a higher resolution on the web browser. I was unable to read the text the way it was intended and could not continue further.

I'm sorry, but this game is very confusing. The art assets don't mesh together at all and I frankly have no idea what I'm doing, even with the text prompt. I wish I could have seen further in the game.

Design: The game needs more objectives. Even just a minute timer and score tracker could be enough to give this game some  more meaning.

Presentation: The game looks nice and is well lit. Some intense music could have helped the pacing.

Theme: This is what I feel is the weakest aspect of the game. Without an objective, I could pretty much do whatever I wanted at whatever pace I wanted.

Interesting concept and great use of the theme. The level design was linear, but I feel like that fit the mechanics really well. There were times I got hard locked and sometimes the control item drops got stuck in the wall. The graphics and music were pleasant and complimented the game well. Great work here. I think this concept could be pushed further if you ever wanted to continue it.

Quick note: Maybe don't have the arrows roll around, it's impossible to know which is which.

Really great game, especially for a solo developer doing art and music. The graphics are nice and clean and the game controlled really well. I was surprised by how well it worked, especially for a browser game.

Design: The core gameplay loop was fun, but needed a few small tweaks to really shine. Some attacks had great impact, like the bazooka, but I would have pushed it further. Screen shake and more sound effects for every hit would give the game extra juice.

Graphics: Wonderful work here. Only thing that might be needed is to hide the trees in front of the camera, which got in the way at times.

Theme: I wish you would have pushed the theme further. The risk/reward mechanic always made me want to not take the risk and just protect the dog. The only times I choose not to were when I was forcing myself to have fun. I agree with the other comment that breaks would have been nice.

That was really fun! Seriously, great work overall, especially for a game jam. I think the use of theme was really strong, but I would have like to have the seen the level design support it more. Maybe zoom out the camera? It felt like I was quickly reacting as opposed to planning out a series of fish to latch on to. Still, wonderful work overall. The art's great, the game is fun, that's all you need.

The graphics were nice and the core gameplay loop was engaging. However, I felt that the game feel was lacking due to the sound design. Consider adding a slightly random death sound for enemies and give the gun sound effect more bass. There also should be an indication when I'm hit, either with sound or visuals and maybe even hit stun. Still, the game works very well and you did a good job.

This was really fun! Good use of the theme and it has a nice, simple mechanic. The menus were a bit archaic, but that's pretty normal for a game jam game. Overall, good work.

You need to upload the entire game file, not just the exe for it to run in the future.
