New Update:

I've been using the same site (KREA) to create new textures for the last few months. I had a really efficient workflow. Unfortunately, the CEO came out really strongly against the service being used for NSFW. I've been trying to find a new workflow for the past week, but have been unhappy with my results. I also have no desire to just use regular Daz 3D models (I have plenty of other projects that use those). The update I was working on is also just not releasable.

I've also done some research on the Adult VR space, and it doesn't look promising. I figured that the Quest 3 would reinvigorate the niche, but it doesn't look that way. For now, I'm going to pivot away from VR, and probably from the adult game genre.

I've also realized that I enjoy tinkering more than I enjoy the actual creation. Once I figure out how to do something, I just no longer have much desire to continue to work on it. Because of that, none of my projects on Itch.io have developed past the demo/prototype stage. I was hoping this project would spark some kind of desire in me to develop it long term. That may have been the case if I was able to continue using the same workflow, but I'll never know.

I appreciate those who have donated to me, and I have put everything I've made right back into assets, subscriptions, etc. If anyone out there is interested in Adult VR development, I do really enjoy having conversations about it, so feel free to comment below, and I'll answer any questions you have.

Update on Update:

I hit a couple of roadblocks on what I was trying to get done. I'm working now on a more "toned down" version of the update I was planning. The game plan now is to have a second chick named Asa, who I just have to animate.

I also will have a prototype of what I'm calling "2.5 D VR", which is images that I've added geometry and a skeleton to, and that you  can interact with. If I get this down, it will allow me to give you pretty much any type of woman you want in the experience. My main issue right now, is getting the "look at player" to look more natural, and make the head of the characters look better. The version I release soon, will probably be a less than perfect version of this, but I'm excited to allow people to try it out and get feedback.

at the very minimum, I'm working on sculpting high Def images, and animating them. So far the "fun" bits on the one I almost have done look great, I just need to get the face better (sculpting-wise, the textures look realistic). I should also have a new skin for Autumn, and maybe a new animation for her.

I'm working on it currently. Hopefully by Tuesday.

The menu that pops up will be used for scene changes. For now, it does nothing.

As for the vantage point being in the ceiling, I'll have to check that out when I get a chance later today. I did test it before uploading it, and didn't have that same problem, but I'll check it again.

In order to download and play games on a Quest from Itch, you have to use SideQuest.

Did you use SideQuest to side load it on the Quest?

It should only work on the Quest for VR.

Hello, and thank you for stopping by. This is a short prototype showing off the visual style I'm thinking about using. In order to keep framerate up, I plan on using a combination of low-poly, high-poly, and flat surfaces.

The character you interact with in this demo is not complete. I was originally going to wait until I cleaned up her textures, but after checking her out in VR, I kind of like the roughish imperfections. Let me know what you think of the way she looks.

I'm playing around with that right now. It does look better in non-VR, because I can control what the viewer looks at, so if I don't get something just perfect, I can just change an angle here or there. Perhaps I'll upload a browser based mini game with examples of my workflow in non-VR.

It will only run on the Quest 2.

I think the characters have a "cuteness to them". I thought about doing the game as a fantasy story (elves and such), and if I did I think I'd go with the more cartoony look like B.

Thank you. I'm experimenting a lot with different styles, so I need to get a feel for why different images resonate, while others don't.

Just curious, is it that the style of B seems to age the characters down a bit? I don't think I'm going with that style, but if I did, I planned on making some adjustments to get them to look a tad older.

The most work for C will be on creating backgrounds that will fit with the characters.

I think I might end up going with the more realistic one. I did use a few celebrities to inspire both of these characters. Out of curiosity, can you tell which ones I used?

Thank you for the feedback. I think I'm going to do up another character in the more realistic style, and get some feedback.

The realistic one, huh? I'm actually surprised I'm getting better feedback on that one. Most visual novels seem to be a little more in between real and animated. I started out wanting to do realistic, so this might motivate me to try to perfect it. The most challenging part will be the backgrounds, and making the realistic characters fit in.

Was it a Quest 2 version?

You have to use SideQuest. Unfortunately, Meta's devices can't install apks without it.

Currently, I'm waiting to see if the new Quest update will allow me to get high enough frame rate to run the way I want it. If it does, then I've got a new project I'll be finishing soon, and will upload a version that can be used on any headset.

Thank you. I'm still trying to decide the best ways to get the player to go to certain spots. The crystal was just a handy option for the bed.

Development got put on hold for a couple of days, because they decided to drop RPG Maker Unite out of nowhere, and I decided to give it a try before I get too deep into development on this game. So far, it's mixed results.

I might have to rewrite my description. The entire purpose of the demo was for feedback on the visuals.

I just uploaded a PC version.

Request a refund through Itch, and I'll approve it. I just edited the description to state that it's Oculus only. I no longer have the source project on this to do a build for Vive.

I put in some work to get real-time elements to a decent framerate on the Quest 2. Had to sacrifice some visual fidelity, but I think it still looks good.

Currently, I'm working on rendering VR and 2D images that will be added to the PC version of the game. What I'm thinking about doing, is to either have a Quest 2 version that doesn't include any Real-Time elements, or just have a photo and video gallery that can be used on the Quest.

This is a Quest 2 Build. You also need SideQuest on your PC to be able to load it.

I have uploaded a PC version with a combo of real-time and pre-rendered. If you have a link cable and a decent PC, this will be the best way to experience it. I am working on building it to Quest 2, but the framerate won't be that great.

I am also working on the story mode going forward. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with the roommate that owes you storyline, or the bartender you try to pick up one.

Thank you for the feedback.

I'm really just trying to figure out what's possible in regards to creating VR Visual Novels. Real-time rendering gives the player more opportunities for interaction with the characters, but doesn't look as good. Pre-rendered looks better, but takes a lot longer to get good quality animations and images, and you can't really interact with them as well.

What I'm working on right now is a combination. You can interact with the characters in real-time, and then she "gifts" you with high def VR and 2D images of her if you earn them. There will also be high def "sex tapes" you can earn to relive experiences with her.

The tutorial/demo will be with the same character that's in this project. The next one will be a new character named Summer. She's a roommate that gambled away all her rent and has to find a way to convince you not to evict her. If both these go well, I'll start writing a longer form visual novel.

Hey y'all. My month and a half of hell at work are over, and I'm starting to get things going again on VR stuff. While I was away, I did have some time to learn  new things, as well as really think about the direction I want to go in all of this. I have two main takeaways.

1. Though my job will be easier over the next few months, my new responsibilities mean that I can't be as carefree there as I was before. More money, good. Loss of some agency, stressful. This means that I have to allow myself as much agency in my creative ventures as possible. Which means working on the things I want to work on each day, week, month.

This all adds up to the fact that, as of now, I have to stop making plans, and promising things, that I may not want to do next week. So, as I create new projects, I will make sure they are small in scale, and can be posted as finished experiences.

2. More time at work, meant that I had more time to render 360 degree images, and turn them into high definition VR experiences. I am really enjoying this. The difference in how the models look pre-rendered versus real-time rendered, is astronomical. However, you can't really interact with pre-rendered images. There are pros and cons of both of them.

Last night, I put these two together, and I think my next project will be just that. One model, in one room. In real-time she'll interact with you. In pre-rendered, you can see what she looks like in high definition VR.

Then again, I don't know what I'll feel like working on next week. I do know that I want to upload a new project soon though.

Anyway, off to getting ready for work.

Unfortunately not.

I definitely will.

With the Forbidden Apprentice, use your Quest's A button to go to the next frame, and the B button to go back. There are only six frames for now (they take about thirty minutes each to render).

It would just end up being a game featuring those actresses in the end,  which isn't something I'm looking to do.

I filmed it in 2D for you.

It doesn't.

However, I may end up re-filming the scenes in 2D if there is enough demand.

Quest 2 Demo scene is available. No sex animations, but you can check out how she looks.
