Looks very well made and detailed. The dialogues are engaging, I'm impressed.
Something you might wish to tweak is that I think controls when jumping and climbing are a little floaty at times and heavy at others. Maybe the height of the jump when stuck to walls needs to be increased, and the interval for double jumping should be increased too because at times I found myself double jumping without intending to. When climbing ladders you might wish to centre the character as sometimes it got stuck hitting the ceiling at the top end of the ladder.
I like this, haven't played a shooter of this type in ages, it's a nice throwback. A minor gripe I have is that the flash when firing the gun can get a bit too much and interfere with the aim, perhaps you should make only the background flash instead so that the player can still see the enemies coming.
Thanks a bundle for taking the time to comment and give feedback. The jump! You noticed!! About the music I knew it was going to get on people's nerves fast, I should have spent more time with it, lazy me :P The colour coding is something that needs fixing too, I agree, and I quite like the idea of matching the door shape with the pet sprite. Will look into that.
Thanks a lot for the positive comments and for the feedback, definitely will keep that in mind :D besides colour coding I think perhaps it would benefit also from the movement being a little more floaty and less snappy. The game is one main puzzle level as I was running out of time, and couldn't make a softer difficulty spike. I might work on this a little further in the future.
This is one of the most think outside the box top-down shoot 'em ups I've played so far. Graphics and gameplay were quite enjoyable. I liked the enemy variety... couldn't help but think of the TMNT for some reason, maybe it was the palette. What would have helped spike up the challenge is to have the barrier move inwards so that the player has less room to move as levels go by, just an idea,
I couldn't playtest it with enough people unfortunately so my opinion about the difficulty was somewhat biased. I thought it was actually somewhat easy since there are measures to make up for lost lives and currency. For instance the player gains a new life when successfully beating a level and one star of each kind when dying. Thanks for the input though, I'll take note of it for the next challenge too.
