An interesting title, like two games at once. Great creativity and use of the limitation, plus the graphics were nicely detailed. Good job!

That's a good shout, using a reset button. I forgot to add one! XD

There was a bunch of stuff I did want to add such as different penguin AI states, so that they could react to the food/block dispensers themselves. Those dispensers were meant for scoring alongside movement however due to time constraints it never got added. This was purely experimental.  NaveMeshes are really cool!

It needs admin permissions? I have never encountered that, strange. Normally there is an option to just go forward with it.

The installer is right, it should ask you to install the files, also good point. I forgot about restarting, oops. XD

Hello everyone!

I have been thinking about these questions for quite some time.

For those who have worked in the industry (professionally at a studio), what was your time there like? Was your first year at a studio rocky or not so bad?

For those who haven't worked professionally but have still made games, what was your experience making them?  Did you find it difficult to pick up all of the necessary skills and/or did you work with others?

I have previously asked people here in 'General Discussion' what there first game was, but I never asked what their experiences making those games (or other games) was like.

My first experience with games was when I was young, and I didn't quite understand what I was doing at the time. Now being a game dev student I understand a lot more now, but have still yet to get a proper taste of the industry, so my experiences don't exceed outside of education or my free time hobbyist projects/game jams. Being a games student is quite an interesting experience.  Working with others was (and still is) new to me, so when I had to work as a team it was something I had to rapidly adapt to. All of my projects have been solo-made up until then.

So what have been your experiences working with games? I would love to hear about it.

Thank you for your time and I hope to have a friendly discussion with you all.

A great game with old school web-game vibes. Good job!

A lovely puzzle game!

Lovely graphics and music. Gameplay was easy to understand from the minute I pressed play. Good controls as well. Nice!

Interesting title with charming audio. Nice looking but definitely challenging. Cool!

A really nice game, love the visuals and simple gameplay!

Stop the weeds from getting to Spudfill the Potatomoid and keep him alive with food and water!

This game was made for Ludum Dare 46 and it is also my first Ludum Dare entry. I have never done Ludum Dare before until now. I hope you enjoy this title and I'd love to hear some feedback!

Thank you for your time.

This looks and feels like you really pushed the fantasy console to its limits. Good Job!

There we go, it should be downloadable now

Hang on, I need to fix that.

Hello All!

This is my entry into the 'Mini Jam'! Play as either Justice or Chaos with a friend, and navigate your way through various mazes to obtain the square to overturn balance of each side!

This was made over a couple of days in my free time. I felt a little burnt out while developing this due to making a game jam game last week, however I managed to pull through and release this before the deadline. I might take a break from game jams for a little while to possibly focus on thinking of a longer term, higher quality project (maybe).

Thank you all.

A very good title! I love the creativity of this game, Slinging Viruses at components is quite a unique idea. The visuals are quite nice as well. The game is kinda complex/confusing at first, but once you read the rules through it becomes clear. Overall a good game, well done! :)

I cannot exactly remember it now, but whatever it was it froze the game.

The game is still an impressive one nonetheless!

An interesting title. I love how the jump messes everything up when you press space, it is quite amusing! The sound is well created and the game overall is nice. However, when playing I got an error (I think it was about the Unity player?). Either way a good title, well done! :)

Nice Game! A very innovative and graphically impressive game for Game Maker Studio 2! My highest was 253! :)

I love how the movement is based on shooting. Some times I would get stuck in the corner of screen, but luckily I was able to free myself. The shooting sound is well made and the simplicity of the game is charming. A nice entry, well done!

An interesting title, the shooting works well, and I like the idea of power ups being bugs. The sounds and the music are well made, and overall I find this game quite fun. Well done on this entry!

Thanks! :)

Thank you! :)

Hello all!

I will be playing some games later, so post here if you want me to check them out :)

Also, here's my game while you're here, please have a look:

Thank you all for a good jam!

I tried downloading but I couldn't run the rar file. However judging by the screenshots it looks like you put great effort into this, good job! I also like your interpretation of the theme, nice :)

Yeah, the gravity can get confusing XD Basically when you touch a wall the gravity kicks in, so everything is anti-gravity when you press space until you hit a wall. Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to play your entry later :)

Thank you! I will try to play some jam entry games later, so I'll give your game a look.

 :)

Thanks! I might consider adding more in an updated version after the jam ends, but I am not sure yet. I will see how the game is received first. Thanks again for your support! :)

Just an ordinary platformer but with only one catch... The jump button is stuck! You must use this to your advantage to beat the game in my 'Wowie Jam 2.0' game jam entry titled 'JumpStuck'!

This was made over a couple of days or so, and although not my best work I tried my best to get something released, because I don't like to miss deadlines.

Thank you for your time.

Hello developers of Itch!

Today's discussion is about envy, and dealing with competition among other developers. When it comes to developing games, how do you deal with envy when comparing yourself to others and their games? How easy is it for you to brush off jealousy when you see others projects? And also do you feel that talking to communities and working collaboratively helps fight off that emotion? Also, do you ever feel out of place and inadequate due to the tools you use compared to others and 'professionals'?

I would like to know your thoughts surrounding this common feeling when developing games. Personally when developing games by myself for fun on Itch I do not feel this way, it is only when I compare myself to my peers and their projects when jealously becomes prevalent.

Thank you for your time and I would love to hear from you guys soon!

-Caleb (LebbyFoxx)

Hello again developers of Itch!

I was just thinking about this question. What was the first game you ever made? My first game was made years ago when I was first introduced to game maker. I don't have the game anymore, but I can still remember some of the gameplay. It was very, very basic, and I didn't know anything about game development at that time. My first proper dive into game development was last year, where I uploaded my first Itch game known as 'Pebblet'. So again I am wondering, what was your first experience with game development? And what was your first game? I hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thank you for your time fellow devs.

I can agree. Making smaller games is fine for when you are working solo. Since the project isn't too big you hopefully won't get as stressed as you would making a big game by yourself! Although I would say making prototypes for larger game ideas can be good as it allows you to experiment with what you can do as a developer and learn a thing or two. My view on working solo is make a small game if you wish to release it and make a big game/prototype if you wish to experiment for yourself.

Hello all!

I have a few questions for all developers out there.

What is your experience with solo development, if you have done it before? How much did scope affect you/your idea (and your creativity), and what did you learn from solo development? Also did/do you enjoy solo development?

Thank you for your time.
