Very solid submission, it really gave me Hollow Knight vibes with the slash boost and the heat mechanic is really well used, dangerous but needed to be fast! Goodjob!!

Alright, first of all, it's a beautiful game with high quality graphics. It is really polished and fun to play (The sort of 2d bunny hop mechanic to keep the momentum is amazing!!!).

However they are some flaws and some bigger than others unfortunately.

Let's start with the tiny ones :
-Death doesnt reset the timer
-The starting "black fog" with the name of the game is too long and you can still move during it
-Some aspects feels unnatural (especially when you have to jump in a hole and to me this hole looked like a graphic bug)
-No music :c

Major flaw :
-A big crash which seems to happens all the time when you have the momentum of a hook and you hook the roof while your character is against it here is a screen that will help hopefully (last frame before the complete crash)

Despite all this, it's a very solid submission!! Congrats and keep it up!

You can thanks Vaumer, our artist for the amazing art!! They really had to speedrun irl but they still managed to polish the first two levels within such a tight timeframe!! And sorry for the main menu, the only setting I could have added was the "sound level" and therefore we prefered to focus on the game itself. As it was really hard to create everything we wanted under the gamejam's deadline x))

Yep I hate review beggars x))) This thing shouldn't be allowed. Just play other people games if you can, leave a review which might help them (wherever possible) and if they have the time they might play your game, that's all x))

Of course, the point of a gamejam is to improve and learn some skills! Which can't be done if no one talk about the negative aspects. Another easy way to fix it is to binds multiple buttons on the same thing. For example pickaxe hook can still be on left shift but on right click aswell. So you don't have to deal with the struggle of custom inputs and the players have a wider range of choices!

Thank you for your time!!!

I love this minimalist art-style, amazing game, congrats!!

Really cool light effect!!!

That's a screenshot not a game x))

Super cool game!!!

Yep! We wanted to try something different with Aten's main mechanics and push it's boundaries! We are really happy with the result :3 Thank you!!!

Okay- That was a freaking amazing game which really deserves the time for a constructive review.
First of all, the goods :

-The graphics are amazing and their effects aswell- Diamond shapes are really well used and really put us into the sci-fi character.
-The sound is catchy and well-chosen.
-Left click dash is an amazing mechanic.

The critics :

-Laggy, framerate isn't perfect and I wish there was a webGL build.
-Needs a double jump animation
-There are some white placeholder
-Dying do not reset the timer

Nevertheless, keep up the good work and congrats for this solid game!!
Also one last thing I somehow got stuck here and my character isn't on screen anymore...

Feels like Nova Drift with less budget and less gravity and less game too

The tutorial was amazing

Submit button doesn't seems to work but I think I won :3
On a more serious tone, that was a really solid game, polished, simple yet good gameplay with godtier art!! Congrats!!!

Awesome game!!

Cool platformer/ die and retry. However the inputs are a little weird.. We use the mouse basically only to restart and the pickaxe hook is on left shift??? Why not right click??? Or why not space to restart?? Because the current inputs force me to basically play one handed (because restart force you to keep the mouse). And having to spam left shift + ZQSD isn't a good position for the hand...

Sort of! I thought about the light's locations after seeing the complete art. And well, it was an amazing place to put one! Speaking about the art, it is highly inspired by the fantastic manga "Blame!". We really love the idea of exploring the endless pathways of ruins from a fallen civilization!

That's very kind of you! We are glad our idea was your taste! :D

It's a real pleasure to see that some people understand the key aspect of the game <3. They are several possible paths, some obviously better than others. But most importantly, you have a few little "secret" spots which allows you to reach some lights & start a fire streak!

Much appreciated! My favorite effect so far is the one once the door opens! I'm really proud of this one :3

Thank you for enjoying our art!

Hmm I haven't really understood the "jump" mechanic when you shoot below you, sometimes you jump high sometimes not...

Unstable is the word x) Cool concept tho!

Very very solid concept!!! I really love this game! Only negative aspect is that I find the water a little too rare, you sometimes have to wait and do nothing because if you put more woods it overheats and there are no water on your game screen..

Everything is in the title. On a more serious tone, when you upload pixel-art elements into your game, please use the point (no filter) and no compression! It will make your assets looks way better and not like 144p videos x)

I really love this game! Everything is really clean and smooth. Only negative aspect is having to wait for the overheat bar to decrease. I understand that it's slow when you actually overheat but when you are not, meh I just find the "natural decreasing" really slow which breaks a little the fun..

I love the concept!!!

Hey cool game! I don't know what you are using but you should try a WebGL build, my game was laggy too on the downloadable version but is flawless in WebGL!

I wish the bullets were wayyy faster :c
Still a cool game nevertheless and amazing music!

Cool game! Perhaps the player is a little too fast but still cool!!

The only thing they fear is time. I got 190.333s I'm so slow :sob: (key is 8a02a4c5). Super fun game tho, congrats!!

Thank you very much! :D

Thanks for your review! Gameplay is slow only if you don't snowball- The game can be finish in less than 1:30 if you collect the lights in series and asap! (while a normal run is like 5 mins). If you don't snowball on the other hand, you indeed lose a lot of time but that's on purpose. If at any points you are really slow, it means that you did something wrong (too slow or not the correct path!) Because you can finish the whole game in full speed! ;3

Do not worry, it's a very generic 2d platformer problem and happens to everyone the first time. Best of luck for you next jams!

Fun game and cool concept! Also I advice you to write down the inputs in the game's itch.io page too :3

Thanks for bringing me back my Jump King PTSD

W instead of "space" to jump is weird but still a cool little game! Thank you!

Fun game! And frustrating but it's right on point!
The movements and animations are super clean!

Only one negative aspect : your function onGround (or whatever you named it to detect if the player is on the ground) doesn't work very well.. When you are on the edge of a platform, very often, the player do the "second jetpack jump" instead of the natural jump. Which is annoying when you are on a precise platformer game, it forces you to jump before the edge which is annoying and counter-intuitive...

despite this, it was a cool and solid idea!

Cool music and simple yet fun gameplay, somehow reminds me of doodle jump. Goodjob!
