Thank you for this fleshed-out review. I really appreciate all the effort you put into these two comments ( ͡ಥ‿ ಥ). So far, each improvement I've made to the game was with the help of someone's else feedback, and yours has been thoroughly educative. Of course, I'm also very happy you enjoyed the characters and the story. ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

I also apologize for the frustrating parts. Laughed a bit reading your rant (which I probably shouldn't ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა). Since the sequel was migrated to a new engine it will feature auto-save reducing the tedium of saving all the time and repeating long sections. It's also going to be more open and free to explore or investigate since it happens in a city (hence the name Ravensburg). I'm going to take your other observations into account for the final polish.

Everything you said here was incredibly useful and I would love to have your review for RAVENSBURG too when it releases, the rant it's welcome too (but I'm going to work hard to don't cause it). It's going to have a release discount the 1st week, but if you have any problem getting it I'm gladly sending you a key here or in discord ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧. Thank you again and happy Christmas!

Thanks Rean! <3

Ohh, and how did you translate it into Chinese?

Oh, bummer :c , hope they fix your PC soon.

And here I was, taking advantage of the bugs to get more bugs… guess I can’t cheat anymore. :c

Finally back! Took me a while to progress in the game xD. I admit my airhead had a lot of trouble getting pass the combat bits. But I rather enjoyed myself a lot with it! I think smol Sarah to be cute, unlike big Sarah who's kind of edgy, but she's still fun. I've warmed up to the old man, and think he's fun too. Was all the music made by yourself? Because it's very good. The track in the forest reminds me of Nirvana. And the main theme used in battles and in the trailer is a banger.
Tried to always maximise my Love points, hopefully it will land on a happy ending! Good game, and the literary references makes it extra-cultured.
P.D: The scene when Sarah takes the bus, and the crazy busman with his dog appears will stay with me.

Thank you for the lovely words! ^^

I really appreciate them especially coming from another fellow indie :D. I'm not really a professional artist, as in, I never went to an art school or anything similar.  Rather what skill I have is a result of self-taugh lessons and a very-likely unhealthy amount of practice. Of course, I'm always trying to improve and it makes me happy when there's a comment like yours telling what the art made them feel.

Is true than the game is quite wordy xD, that's why I used the visual novel tag even if it's similar to a jRPG. Myself was surprised with the amount of dialogue every character ended up having at the end. You could say that was a result of obsession, since I had the feeling I didn't want to be left behind some of my own favourite games and works - the ones which inspired me to complete my game in the first place. There's also the fact that I believe characters should speak for themselves, reason why I don't like to restrict what they say. But now I'm heavily digressing ^^U.  For my own sanity I'll probably tone it down in the next chapters and stories (though a wordy element will likely remain still).

All of this reminds me I have yet to report back of my playground of Dreams of Joy Departed. I promise I will do it; I just have to put my sleep schedule in control... somehow ^^. Cheers!

Thanks for the comment!
Mmmmm, the game already features a button for speeding-up text and faster walk/running - though you may refer to a higher run speed or the option to directly skip dialogue scenes. Initially we thought about including such a feature, but taking into account the game needs some investigation to progress, skipping dialogue entirely could lead to players getting soft-locked or lost, in contrast with combat-oriented games where skipping dialogue wouldn't affect progress that much. As for repetition, you're very well right that some is due if the player doesn't save - which can happen because the game doesn't feature autosave, all saving must be done manually from the menu like old jRPGs. We may include a warning at the beginning to aware the players of that.
Glad you liked the art. ^^

I love the art style of your game! It's very weird and the music is cool too.
I'm gonna play it.

(1 edit)

Done! I deleted some unused files to ease the game's size. Probably ended up deleting that one in the crossfire.

Remember: You only need to copy-paste your old save files (Save01, Save02, etc.) which can be found in your current version's folder, inside the game's new version folder after you download it. This way you won't lose your progress and be forced to start again. Feel free to report any other issues you find while playing!

Seems like a missing file, my bad! Good fortune you just commented it now. Let me fix it and reupload.
And yes, this will be the final version. Apparently, that won't impide some good bug fixing first. Thanks for reporting!

Thanks! Any suggestions you may have please let me know.

(Nice name, btw.)

I’m going to report you!!  > : c
