Thank you so much! It's funny to see my game on a video haha! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I finished my first game!
I'm so happy to have joined the jam, it's the first time I post a game (a demo even) on the internet and it's good to give me some courage for the future. I also learned how to work with a deadline set, which is great, and how to make a schedule that is both healthy and productive for me.
Overall it was an important experience that I'm proud for not giving up (because I almost did). It's a little achievement I completed in january that made me a little more happy about myself :)
Now, I'm not so sure if I'm proud of the game as a whole, but I really liked the story I came up with and I started to feel even more excited to work on the game. The story had major changes and this is one of the reasons I couldn't complete it, but I'm happy it did because now I can take my time to create something I can be proud of.
I also have a question: I can only post it here on itch.io right? My idea was to post in the rpg maker forum linking the page here on itch.io, but I understand if this counts as posting outside the jam and going against the rules.
Quick and important update: 25/01/22
Greetings, I’m happy you came to check on the game again!
What 's new?
Well, I had a pretty busy weekend. Unfortunately the delays have been greatly affecting this project, and even if I have great progress in hours it’s still not enough. So I decided that I will focus on completing a demo for the game, not the entire game unfortunately.
But I have not given up yet! This just means that I will concentrate in polishing and making a good demo instead of rushing the game and cutting it down. I will post the full game eventually, yes, but since I can’t be sure I will complete it and at the very least be playable or enjoyable, I prefer to focus on this demo.
I really want people to play this and have fun, I do regret coming up with an idea just 9 days before the jam ended too… but I hope the next time I join I will be able to finish a game!
I’m sorry if you’re disappointed (I don’t think anyone is reading this but still), but I will try my best and keep developing the game! And I hope you like it as much as I do :)
It's been a very good experience to learn still, thank you for everything!
Update on The Sacred Garden, 22/01/2022:
Welcome back! Glad you want to see how this project is going, I have some updates for you:
“Party” system
(NOTE: This aren’t the designs I plan on using for these characters!)
In this game, you will meet characters that will help you. I wanted to make something like Donkey Kong 64, in which you need to change characters to unlock certain areas or make things a lot easier for you. This is still a WIP I made primarily for testing how something like pressing 1,2,3,4 could work, and it did! For now I don’t plan on making the last two characters be playable like this, their abilities will be off screen. But I’m happy to see that this is possible and proud i could make it!
First florest map is complete! Together with all the actions and cutscenes. Now to the next area!
The “prologue” of the game is already complete! All the actions and cutscenes are already done… It took me long than I wanted because I was busy with things here in my home so it really delayed my plans but still, I think it’s important to say it! Next I’m going to make the map that is the center of the florest per say and the garden! I will have to take my time to create puzzles and how the garden will work exactly. But hey, at least I already can make the “party” system work, which will be a great deal in the puzzles.
Final notes
I had to delay the project but I’m still positive about it! Hope you still want to follow the progress :)
Not entirely, your decisions doesn't matter much at least in dialogues. It's more like puzzle-ish and adventurous, explore and find things that can help in your journey and in your garden! It's nothing like an open world so the exploration might be very linear... don't want to spoil more~ I hope you like it :D
The Sacred Garden
Hey hey! I’m finally comfortable enough to make a DevLog about my project: The sacred garden.
What is it about?
It’s a little girl going into the woods alone, only to find that an old tale has been alive after all these years.
Now she must help this tale rebuild this once sacred place that has turned to ashes.
Do you already have the story planned?
Yes, but there’s something I might change in the future. I actually came up with the full story well… today with only 9 days for this jam to finish…
What engine are you using?
I started with RPG Maker MV but moved to RPG Maker 2003. I just thought it fits more the style I want for this game.
Are you going to use the RTP?
Yes. For those who don’t know, RTP is the default graphic that comes with rpg maker. The only thing different will be the character sprites, but for now I’m more worried about finishing the game than making better graphics.
So, do you still plan to change the graphics? (Important note)
Yes. As a matter of fact, I don’t plan to abandon this game after the jam ends. If everything works out and I finish it in time to submit it to the jam there will sure be a lot of unpolished work that I will be happy to do, including making better graphics and who knows maybe add more story and moments to it. For now it’s a simple game made with all my heart :)
…English is not your first language is it?
No. It isn’t. I have friends who can help me fix the dialogues of the game, my english might not be perfect but I hope it doesn’t ruin the game or make anything look silly… I will try my best and definitely rewrite a lot of things when time comes.
That 's it! It’s all I’m comfortable sharing now. I’m really shy but I’ll try to answer any questions or comments. Thanks for reading.
1. Hi there! What's your name? Want to introduce yourself?
You can call me Momonica! I use she/her pronouns
2. Did you participate in the last jam we held? If so, what do you plan on doing better this time? If not, what's your reason for joining?
No, I'm pretty new to this stuff. I really wanted to join one, as I see a lot of people improving and making great projects in these jams.
3. What games are your favorites? Did any of them inspire you, or made you want to make your own?
My favorite games are Celeste, Psychonauts 1 and Stardew Valley. The game who really inspired me was undertale, but I can't lie Celeste had a huge impact on me and got me thinking that maybe I could put my stories out there.
4. Do you have experience with game development? What did you do/with what engine?
I'm currently developing a game of my on with the RPG maker engine. I still have a lot to learn but at least I understand what i'm doing... sort of...
5. What are your goals for this game jam?
To learn and finally have courage to post something! It will be great to get feedback and support from a completed project, or something I can finally post and share with people :)
I found this on rpg maker forum, I loved the game! The retro vibes are on point and it's just really fun playing it! The puzzles are hard but still enjoyable even if you're stupid like me :,D
Just one bug i noticed: when I open the menu in a boss fight the game doesn't pause, so i end up dying and there's the little potato from the menu in the next scene.
