I’ve been keeping my eye on this, but my weapon of choice is a Mac so I’ll have to try and figure out a way to integrate the Linux or Windows version that isn’t too painful. Regardless, I’m a fan of your work so keep it up!

Wow, thank you for your amazing words and support, it means a lot. First place would really just be icing on the cake, because I learned so much going through this process and couldn’t ask for more than that.

I assure you we are beginners (though I’m a professional web developer) and this is the first game we’ve built together (but we’ve talked and talked for years about trying game development!), and the first jam we’ve participated in. The secret sauce is our chemistry, and each specialising in their particular field (me, programming; MonstersMustDie, art and design). We also took a week off work to dedicate to the project, so credit also goes to our wives for their support and understanding.

Hey thanks for your feedback! Concern about text legibility has been noted and we’ll be looking to improve that as well as how we communicate the game’s mechanics in upcoming updates.

Thanks for your kind words, and I’m glad you enjoyed it enough to stick with it until the gameplay become clear. Watch this space for improvements once the jam is complete :)

Thank you for your comment and support! We definitely had a lot of fun with the concept and art. The importance of the new player experience is one of the most important lessons we’ve learned from this first jam/project. Time constraints meant we couldn’t build the tutorial that we wanted in time for the jam, but we’re committed to taking this game further after the jam.

Hey thanks for playing and for your feedback! We have a guided tutorial planned that would walk the player through each mechanic slowly, but simply wouldn’t have been able to do it justice in the time given :(

Thanks for that. And for sure, being new to game dev and the first jam I'm participating in, I have no illusions of winning, but I also prefer not to have points deducted unnecessarily :)

Sorry if this should be obvious, but where does the Originality score stand on third-party sound effects? The rules state that royalty free music and fonts and fine if credited, but doesn't specifically mention sound effects. Do I need to get a mic and start doing foley work as well? :O
