I finally found a solution thanks to another thread, you have to use the pegasus boots + sword on him. No idea why that's the only way of damaging him in this version.

You learn it after taking Marin to Animal Village in this version. Not sure if it's a bug or intended feature.

Works for me, did you kill them in the right order? It goes Pol's Voice (rabbit), Keese (bat), Stalfos (skeleton).

Keep progressing and you'll learn it when Marin starts singing in Animal Village. No idea why that was changed here.

Nope, here is a video of the original for reference Armos Knight (Link's Awakening) (youtube.com). Also I forgot to mention but I already tried spin attacks as well and those don't work either.

Can't damage the Armos Knight boss in the Southern Face Shrine with anything (L2 Sword, Arrows, Bombs, Bomb Arrows, Boomerang, Hookshot) and thus it's impossible to progress. Tried hitting him from all different directions, leaving and reentering the shrine, exiting and restarting the game, and messing with the graphics settings and nothing works.
