really clever!

So creepy and weird, great work!! I ran into a spot where you couldn't "reach" the target area. I think it's because the game depends on being either in 16x9 or 1920x1080 specifically. I changed to that from a 16x10 resolution and that solved it by allowing me to move the mouse higher up and reach the target.

Thanks for the in-depth feedback! I agree with all of this and unfortunately just didn't manage time well.  I think it says I submitted 8 minutes before the deadline, haha 😅.  Implementing the gamepad support was really a last priority and I didn't have time to execute it well. In retrospect, gamepad maybe should have been an earlier priority considering judging of the game jam is happening on itch with these home play sessions. It's a bit of a conundrum, where some design decisions that will benefit at home play will be rewarded by voters playing in this context, despite (in my eyes at least, as one of the organizers) the spirit of the jam constraints being aimed at curating games that will work best for the best in-person show.  It's an interesting challenge for us to keep thinking about, as most players aren't considering this when playing at home, understandably.

Same situation with the aspect ratio. We are going to use a big portrait oriented TV on a stand and I hastily tried to restrict the itch build to windowed pixel dimensions that would fit inside most people's monitors.  It's easy to see how flawed my quick resolution choice was now that I'm not typing in the numbers minutes before the deadline, and obviously I should have picked something less than 1080 px tall, and if I had more time, yeah, definitely should have supported widescreen with letterboxing.  These are just the typical costs of not getting done in time to test things more thoroughly, an age-old time management lesson that is always hard (for me!) to learn from... 😜

Really fun and clever idea! It took me a couple of tries before I understood what to do for the password. I thought I had to read the button mash stuff to find it, and some of it sometimes does reference passwords lol. I think it was also confusing that a lot of buttons don't do anything when it's waiting for the prompt, which made me wonder if I had to like select the UI with the mouse. On the other hand, the click part was immediately understandable. I understand the critique about taking the hand off the keyboard being frustrating but I actually think that switching of gears was fun for me.

Once I had a design test where the prompt was to convey a game design with one screenshot. I could 100% understand this game from one glance. So clever, I'm jealous!  Plus, the game is fun and I love the sound design.

I dig the sound and visuals for sure. I think you should just get rid of the browser version if it is significantly worse, although it sure is more convenient to just play on the web 🤷‍♀️.

Fun premise, I don't feel like I figured out the ideal strategy. I imagine good players can do pretty well (like the creators!)

It comes with the territory, I know how you feel 😅

Fun gameplay and as usual I love your work's aesthetic! I had a hard time conceptually understanding what was happening... Am I jumping off windows by hitting them with a bat? 😂

I wouldn't say it matters except that I think I would have figured out I was supposed to jump up the building a little quicker. I wonder if you should just start falling. The initial jump and hit is pretty tough. I would also give more of the invincible windows longer before turning the player loose on the single use ones.

I like the 3D visuals, are they homemade for the jam? Combined with the post processing, the game has a nice aesthetic.

I don't like having shoot and WASD all on my left hand. I can't press these at the same time.

I could see a lot of potential for good play to earn high scores here, nice job!

I like the idea of building momentum and charging through breakable objects. I think I kind of figured out how to play by the end, but I'm still not positive I was playing correctly. I think the controls could be even simpler, and the rounds should probably be shorter. Fun music, too!

It was fun to discover I could have the octopus spike the ball! It seemed like I could play pretty indefinitely once I learned the ropes. Not sure the leaderboard was working. Nice job finishing a project for the jam, keep going!

The game is intended to open in a 9x16 window, which is what happens for me when I run the build. There must be some scenario where it is still opening in 16x9, which sounds like it's causing a handful of issues related to visibility, etc.

You can juice all the fruit, even the big ones. Some are just more delicate and hard not to break on the gamepad (though it is doable if you're careful). Lots of rough edges here to figure out, thanks for playing! 😜

You're supposed to be able to get back to your corpse and recover progress.

Oh! I didn't realize there was more UI you could only see in full screen. I would suggest maybe updating that or mentioning it in the game page. Sorry if I missed that kind of warning! Excited to try it now ;)

Took me a minute to realize I was controlling gravity and not the blue block. Clever puzzle game!

What do I press / click after entering my name? Sorry, maybe I'm dense 😅

I noticed this, too. I think it was meant to be a "loop" pattern to help the player not have to back track. I think a less confusing / more immersive way to handle it would be like a gate that only opens from one side, etc.

thanks, I appreciate you trying it out!

Hey, just confirming you can make it tonight for the show, I didn't notice a reply to my email from info@nightcity.games, but word on the street is you can... 🤞Need devs to make it a half hour before the show starts to get set up.

No problem, thanks so much for submitting even though you can't make it! Looking forward to checking out the game!

Hi, and thanks for your submission! 🥳 If you would like the game to be considered for official selection, please fill out the entry form ASAP! I need to send the anonymized games to the reviewers today.  https://forms.gle/VnXpE3WsU3Ag3uWZ8

I agree that this needs some attention. Not sure the best solution!

I'm not sure if others are experiencing this but the patreon link takes me to "couldn't find that page" error

Great looking work as usual. Will you have a patreon link for this pack?

Thank you!

Will you provide patreon access to this pack on itch?

Great work!
