all of the games code has to be made by you, you can use code from previous games you made but you cant just reskin them, music and sprites not made by you are allowed but you have to have the rights to them. the rules are not very strict but you should generally try to make your own assets (if it is possible).
Is there any restricted areas that you can unlock using keys or is it just this gameplay loop of hiding and walking? I like the 3D artstyle. The movement system is not that good but because this was meant to mimic a gameboy game i like it. Probably the best game in the whole jam.
Not bad. Like the other people said if you mash every button at once you will get the highest score. I am a pianist and usually these kinds of games are easy for me but this game is very hard because the notes just keep coming and you dont know where to look. Its hard to keep up. You should have went with a notes system like in the game "Like a dino" (i know that game is very very great but im just talking about the song and note system) where at the start its very easy but when you finish a song the speed of the song increases so it makes it harder. Still its an ok game.
I managed to download it despite the virus errors. I like the artstyle. The jump mechanics are weird but i like them, you could have added a button to slam on the ground but this works. The endings are not that creative but the game is not bad. 6.5/10
Very well made especially for a game made in 3 days with the gameboy limitations. There isnt much content but the content is good. The only issue i have is that the dodge test at start is not very good. The laser thing doesent announce before it appears so you have to guess and that mechanic isnt used anywhere in the game. Its a good game.
i didnt really think that much about what the text was. i put the YOU ARE A FAILURE as a joke. Also i dont want every game jam to be super super friendly because then they all become generic and boring (imo). still thanks for the opinion :D
it doesent have to be inviting. if someones gonna join they should join, if they are offended about it sarcasticlly saying they are a FAILURE they can cry about it. every jam is the same which is not good.
You can use any colours but it has to be 4 or less colours. If you want it to be 100% gameboy feel you can google the original gameboy green colours. You can use the good old black, grey, light grey and white.
i hired a guy to polish the game a little bit. hope you liked it. it is my 2nd game every so its quite bad. having to change weopons with number keys was implemented due to the techinchal limitations i had at the time. looking back on it i could fix it in a few minutes and probably will do when i get the time
This game is very good. Its not the best but the idea is very good. The game feels unfair sometimes but i like the way its designed. I couldnt finish it because of my skill issue. There are a few bugs (you cant fix them rn because its the voting period) but non of them are groundbreaking. The artstyle and music are not very good but the gameplay makes up for them. Its not the best but its better than anything i can do so thats something.
The graphics are stunning but the music and the gameplay isnt the best, i expected to be driving the taxi and the timer doesent make sense. Not driving a taxi is ok if the taxi managment is good. The flare select screen is ugly. The base game is good but i think you need to make a few changes: -The car is faster/you control the car -The timer increases everytime you drop off a flare (just like in the taxi missions in gta san andreas) -Money buys a bigger car for more passagnger or a faster but smaller car, or at some point you can buy a tank or a helicopter etc
The main issue is the cars speed and the timer not changing when you pick up a flare. Keep up the good work!
