Hi!

I'm sorry you're having issues with the saving functions. Unfortunately the save to disk and load file function is a javascript add on coded by a third party so I have little control on how it works. The Twine format I use (Harlowe) doesn't have a save to disk function originally and I found this add-on on GitHub. The person making it has been kind enough to update it to the best of their ability has Harlowe gets updated, but it might still have some compability issue.

If I ever find a way to have more reliable saves in the future, I'll make sure to implement it. As of now, the best advice I can give is to play the game on desktop or laptop, use the cookies saves, and make sure the cookies aren't regularly erased by your browser. Mobile devices seem to erase cookies regularly no matter what you do.

I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

If you follow me or the game, you should be notified any time the game is updated.

As for the MC's gender, they use masculine titles because of their status. They are considered a man as a social function, even if it's not their real gender. Some people address them with masculine titles for that reason but they know they're not really a man (if you chose not to be a man). Others might actually think they are *really* a man.

Thank you! <3

Thank you!

I'll eventually look into adding font size options, in the meantime most browsers have a zoom in feature which might help.

Thank you. :) I don't think I'm beleaguered, tho... Although there are the horrors I suppose.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Thank you. :) Things can get standardized very fast and while it's not necessarily a bad thing, I find it's healthy to sometimes question those habits and standards to do things in a way that's a little more intentional.

Thank you! I like to respond to comments because I'm very grateful to everyone who takes the time to leave one. :) But writing-wise I'm actually on a bit of a hiatus. I've burnt myself out and need to recover and it'll take time, unfortunately.

That being said, I purposefully didn't list the ROs because (for this story, at least) I wanted people to discover them as they play, and choose who to romance in a more organic and immersive way, if that makes sense. I did plan to make a list of main characters (ROs and others) with short descriptions on my tumblr blog, but it'll take time to put together so I've put that on the back burner for now. When I do make it, I'll consider how to include it on here or in the game itself.

I'm glad you're enjoying the story and thank you for the feedback!

I'll look into the color scheme and see what I can do about it in a future update.

Edit: looking at it again, it's possible the font's weight might be the issue more than the color. I'll still look into improving it, but I would recommend trying out the other font available, it's likely easier on the eyes.

They're a love interest, yes.

Chartres is aromantic in this story, but you can be friends with benefits with him.

Each relationship option is bisexual and/or biromantic. The relationships might play out a little differently depending on your character’s gender, but they are open to all gender.

Hello! I’m very flattered by all your nice compliments! It really means a lot. :)

I’ll look into how to make the save to file and load from file thing clearer.

As for the choice you speak of, it only appears if you already showed romantic interest in Ajmal. The choice to not confess does not cancel that in any way and the game will still take into account the romantic feelings MC has for Ajmal.

There’s not really a choice to opt out of the romance in this choice set because it wouldn’t make much sense that soon after expressing interest.

But that might not be clear enough that the choice is still within the romance, so I’ll give it another look.

Thank you so much for the lovely compliments. ❤️

Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed the game so far. :)

I'm sorry the font has been causing you eyestrain. I'll look into how I can integrate a couple font sizes in the settings of the game. In the meantime, I recommend using the alternate font, open sans, which is easier on the eyes in my experience, and your browser's zoom-in feature, which should allow you to get a bigger font without interfering with the UI much. It might persist throughout my itch.io profile and my other games if you don't change it back, though.

I'm sorry. :( I suppose it's possible that the cookies were erased with the update. But I've heard that itch.io changed hosting platform for html games so it could be that all saves for everyone were deleted, I can't say for sure. Or your browser erases cookies regularly, which could be changed in your settings, potentially.

Thank you, that's very sweet. :)

I don't think one option is really easier for me than the other, to be honest. The workload is the same. The thing that might be harder would be the lack of feedback and interaction with the readers for such a long time in the case of full chapter updates. But even that might not be that different in the end. Shorter updates means less content for readers to react to so it might balance out.

The poll is here to give me an idea of how people feel about this, I don't plan on letting it decide for me what to do, but it'll help me make a more informed decision. :)

I'm so sorry :(

That's certainly a way to play them! Glad you're enjoying the game. :)

I'm currently working on chapter 2. I post weekly updates on my progress on the Tumblr blog for all my projects. Updates can take a long time to write, so I would advise patience.

Thank you! It's a very nice compliment. <3

Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the concept! <3

Thank you! I'm glad you like Peyrolles so much. :)

Thank you so much! I'm flattered! <3

I'm really flattered the story surpassed your expectation! Thank you for this nice compliment <3

I appreciate the excitement! Good luck with your exams <3

I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

(SPOILER)

I know Nevers's murder is going to be rough for some people so take care of yourself first! But it being difficult is important. It's a turning point for Gonzague.

Sorry u_u

thank you! <3

Thank you!

thank you! that's very flattering <3 I aim to make people feel lol

Thank you! ❤️

Thank you! Given the historical context, that's something I felt needed to be addressed and to be relevant in some ways. But hopefully in a respectful and comfortable way!

Hi! Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments! I'm absolutely floored and excited to see people wanting to read the original novel lol.

I think there's enough in the current demo to confirm that a potential romantic relationship with Peyrolles is probable yes.

And I'm really glad you enjoyed the scene with the spinet with Chartres! I wanted to have something to soften the moment, to highlight the friendship between Gonzague and Chartres.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Hello! Chartres is aromantic in this story, so while you can have a close relationship with him, it's not really romantic in nature. It stays a friends-with-benefits type of situation.

It'll still be inconvenient when the game gets longer, but I appreciate your patience! If changing your settings isn't enough, I've had people saying things work better with Firefox, if that helps!

The saves are stored in your browser’s cookies. To keep your saves, you need to make sure your browser allows cookies on itch.io and doesn’t erase them over time.

Unfortunately some mobile devices delete those cookies regardless of your settings. I’ve not found any work around that.

If you can play on laptop/desktop, it would be ideal.

I’m hoping it’ll be possible to add a save to file option, but I can’t guarantee it’ll happen as of now. And even if I’m able to add that feature, the save files will be obsolete after each content update.

Thank you! <3
