OMG! Thanks for also letting me know there was play on stream.
This is going to be helpful feedback, I didn't get the chance to have any playtesters, if that was not already apparent lol!
Thank you for the kind words and feedback. I'm definitely working to brush up the edges and implement some of the unfinished portions.
I did include a recipe book to the left of the input display, which I should have labeled better! The customers should be able to be sold to if clicked on, but you are right! I missed a bug which blocks their actual body from being clicked.
I'm going to make sure to improve these things and then I hope you'll try it out again!
I really appreciate that!
I have made quite a few changes to the game post-submission that I intend to publish on itch.io once the judging has finished. Personally, I think the game feels much smoother (the puns are contagious).
I'd love to hear your thoughts if you get a chance to check it out!
A sneak peak & some update highlights:
Hey everyone! This is my first game jam, and really my first project I've shared since starting in November of last year. Like most, I was inspired by Thor's message and pushed myself to submit for this game jam as a commitment to my progress. I worked as a solo dev in Godot 4 with GDscript.
As such I have made: Sandwich Empire. You have been employed by the fast food mecha-corporation, Sandwich Empire, and they have you starting off at the PB&J slice station. It's a simulation game about spreading peanut butter and jelly on bread.

I learned a ton, and have continued to tweak the game so that I can release a more polished version post-game jam judging. Things like auto-rating the slice, order fulfillment feedback, and a UI reorganization. All things I intended to finish before the submission, but I ended up spending about a week figuring out an efficient way to get the spreading mechanic to work so that the game wasn't terribly laggy (a source of many lessons).

Good first try! Hope your artist is feeling better and got the power situation sorted. I appreciate you let us hold down the attack button and like how it is omni-directional. The cows are cute too.
I am struggling to beat the wizard, I keep trying to dodge in different directions and end up going straight into projectiles.
Hello, fellow sandwich game dev!
I really like the idea of this game. I was struggling with the controls a bit, but after reading some of the other comments was able to figure it out. My main struggle was the direction of the slice being dependent on which direction you had walked last in addition to the mouse swipe. Once I figured this out I enjoyed the levels.
Defeating enemies to complete puzzle mechanics is a neat mechanic!
