[Stream VOD]

Games played: 6

Games List: Bio-Synthetica | AstroBrawl | Card Chronicles | SILDREN | Cyborg Corgi | Vangaro Tactics

Hello! (。・∀・)ノ゙ I had a lot of fun playing the demo of Vangaro Tactics, and I wanted to pass on some feedback! To start off, I have to say the presentation with the art and sound design is great! I love how colorful the world it and the bold art style of everything. The game feels very fun to play, and as someone who's never played a game in this Advance War-like genre it was quite easy to get into.

I had a lot of fun playing the demo, which wrapped up at just the perfect time to leave me excited to see more later. Everything here feels really solid. The only thing I'd recommend if fleshing out the story sections to help with the story and characters a bit, just some refinement to help things feel a little more natural rather than jarringly jumping from level to level.

Excited to see more later on! Vangaro may be one of those games I'll have to pick up and play in my own time so I can really get into it when it comes out.

My VOD:

Hi there! (。・∀・)ノ゙ I played a little bit of AstroBrawl on stream and I wanted to send some good vibes and feedback your way. I had a lot of fun with AB, especially in my time messing around with it off stream, and I find it's a really fleshed out game! It reminded me a lot of those games you'd find to play while in your computer lab at school or something, just a classic web game that you can also play with friends.

Despite my lack of skill with it, I found it really fun to play! All the mechanics and little touches to the gameplay help keep things fresh and engaging.

My VOD:

I had some good fun with Cyborg Corgi! It reminded me a lot of the kind of web games you'd play in a computer lab in elementary school. The gameplay loop is quick and fun with room for upgrades and improvements, with a lot of replayability due to the difficulty.

If you wanna see any more thoughts of feedback I had please check out my VOD where the game is time stamped in the description.

My VOD:

Hello! (。・∀・)ノ゙ I played SILDREN on my stream and I just wanted to pass on my thoughts of my time with it! I found the art style and presentation of the game super charming, especially the unsettling hues of green used! It really adds to the surreal and sickly atmosphere of the game.

Personally a lot of my feedback boils down to refinement! I find the gameplay loop engaging, and while some of the timing windows in combat are narrow I didn't find them overly cheap of frustrating - since the game focuses on building yourself up and looping over and over I didn't mind short runs due to dying quickly. I think with time a player can get use to the timing on things like blocking and use it well, but this comes down to if others find it feels good to use.

Other then all that, I would definitely recommend doing some more passes on the dialogue to help with any mistakes and help with the consistency of it! You can check out my VOD below with the games time stamped to see any other thoughts or feedback I had while playing.

My VOD:

Hello! ヾ(•ω•`)o I'm a huge fan of card based rogue-like games so I was super excited to see your game as apart of the jam! I really enjoy the set up for the game, as well as the art design with the pixel art in a 3D space.

When it comes to the gameplay loop itself, I find some of the gameplay lacks depth or the proper reinforcement of mechanics. To give a quick run down of some of my ideas/feedback:

  • The starting character's "class ability" of getting 1 defence for 10 damage needs to reexamined as at the moment it seems insanely difficult to get the damage output to have any use of this ability. Due to how little it goes off, the 1 defence you get feels pretty useless.
  • I talk about it a bit while playing the game in my VOD, but when you break down the games main loop of not only losing HP to play cards, but also losing HP to enemies, your runs may only last 2-4 fights on average due to no consistent healing. Enemies can take 50% of your health in single fight due to being so tanky, and playing more cards in a round than you can. Reducing enemy HP, and reducing them to 3 cards instead of 4 in a turn may help things feel more even.
  • With the mechanic of losing HP to playing cards, due to enemies always hitting you you have no incentive to not play your cards. With the way enemies perform their actions, the same 4 every turn, there's no reason for you not to just play everything you have in your hand.
  • Speaking of enemy patterns, I think to help with the repetitiveness of gameplay each enemy should have a varied move pool. I found myself thinking of Slay the Spire alot, and how each enemy in that game is based around a certain type of gimmick or behaviour. Perhaps it alternates between attacking and stacking its own defence, or once its health gets so low the behaviour changes to something more intense and damaging. Giving distinct enemies distinct behaviours helps make your gameplay more engaging, while letting the player learn and feel more confident the more they die and play the game.

Off the top of my head that's everything that comes to mind! I also have my stream below with time stamps in the description, so please feel free to check that out for more explanation and what I was thinking while playing.

My VOD:

I'm just getting around to commenting on the games I've played now, but as you know I loved my time with Bio-Synthetica! I only really have praise for the art and sound design, and I really enjoyed the gameplay loop! Many of my suggestions, like flash toggling for sensitive eyes and customization options for home base, are already being worked on so you're already doing amazing there!

It was really fun to have you in chat as I played, and I'm super excited for more updates and the full release!

My VOD:

Afraid not! Currently dealing with some tech issues and scheduling conflicts born from said tech issues so I'm not available for extra stuff rn! Sorry about that, good luck on the jam!

Hey folks! I don't have time to do my own full submission for Scream Secrets, so I figured I'd offer my help if anyone thinks they can use me for their project! (。・∀・)ノ゙

I'm a 2D artist and animator who can do both illustration and pixel art. My style is traditionally more round and cartoony, so if you're looking for something a bit subversive then I think I can help! If you want an idea of my typical work, feel free to check out my website!

Feel free to reach out to me via Discord (pixeldotgamer). I ask that you pitch your project to me so I can get an idea of what you're looking for and if I'd be a good fit. Please be aware this isn't first come first serve. Depending on who reaches out I may even be working on multiple teams.

Hey folks, I'm Pixel! (。・∀・)ノ゙ I'm an artist, streamer, and hobbyist game dev with an education in game art/animation. I have a wild variety of skills and interests when it comes to art - and games are no exception! I was excited to find out about Feedback Quest because I love supporting creators and trying new games. Depending on how many games there are, I'm ready to dedicate my August streams to showcasing and discussing whatever catches my eye! o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ

Just some additional art from the game! :] I wanted to include some bonus stuff for people to look at.

Hello! Out of curiosity, would things like demos/vertical slices be allowed for this jam? I'm interested in attempting to make a vertical slice/demo for a game idea of mine within the one week time frame of the jam, but I want to make sure that's alright for this particular jam.

Hello! I wanted to ask if multiple idea submissions are allowed, or if you rather we refine one favourite idea for our submission?

Thank you so much, and congrats on getting the 'best end' on your first run! ;]
