Sweet update!

This was my girlfriend's favorite 2-player game of the compo.

Wow, the production quality is A+! M-Tee outdid himself again, with fantastic tunes and good coding as well. I especially love the character and level design. The gameplay is decent; it works best as a Tetris game to play with friends who aren't good at Tetris. That's a good niche to be in as other Tetris games are highly competitive.

Arrr, the catchy music has been stuck in my head.

A bit under-polished but the gameplay here is great! Out of all the 2-player games, I had the most fun with this one. I'm hoping you update it eventually, as sounds and more stages would make this a classic.

I am proud to announce that I hold the Beat 'Em High world record.

Amusing snake game with 5-star music. I like to pretend it's in the "Mouser II" universe.

I used to play a lot of Icy Tower back in the day, and this is an excellent follow-up! The guitar slinging and two-player really make it shine compared to that game, and the music is absolutely banger. Arcade games are tricky to get right, but this one's definitely addictive. If there's one suggestion, I do miss the flashing text Icy Tower used to throw at you to make combos pop.

This one's fantastic and a good follow-up to Irritating Ship. Good mix of puzzle and precision. If you ever add on to it, I'd recommend a mode where hitting the walls damage you but doesn't kill you. I think that would be ideal for players who want to focus on the puzzle aspect rather than the execution.

Thanks for the kind words, and yeah, the learning curve is steep! For those having trouble, it helps to view it as a puzzle, rather than a reflex game. There's a reliable way to get through every section, you just have to figure out the right sequence of movement.

Unfortunately Rani passed away after submitting this game; I wish I could have given her feedback before she left this earth. The graphics here are fantastic and the setup interesting. Leaves me hungry for more content.

This game looks and feels super classic, so great job with the presentation. It's funny, too! The apple / cherry pie split could have been utilized more, but what's in the game still works. Seems like a good game for both kids and older adults.

This one surprised me with the gameplay. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would! And the concept is funny too.

Wow, this one's super polished and professional, with so many fun little details. The library was neat, but the game got awesome when it went wild west and I kept playing til the end. My only complaint is it gets non-linear extremely fast. I'd recommend starting linear and let the player accomplish a goal first before introducing branching paths. Or perhaps a bit more explanation on what to accomplish.

Bug report: there's a tile in the purple room that isn't a door but acts like one. It teleports the player to two different locations, depending on the scroll position. There's also a pit in the library which softlocks you.

I'm having some trouble with the controls, but it's still neat to explore. I think a video of the gameplay would help me figure out how to jump.  The character animation might be the best of the compo.

Make sure your firmware is updated. If you have an AVS or other clone console, update their firmware too.

Looks cool. Did you submit it to the compo?

Hi folks,

NESFab is a new programming language and developer kit for making NES games. Being designed specifically for the system, it offers a mix of performance and productivity that's hard to match.

The language is easy to setup, and is compatible with this compo, so it'll be exciting to see what entries get made.

Or even better, join the Discord! I'm always happy to help there.

For Action53 Entries:

To ensure compatibility, compile with a valid mapper and the following flag:
