Awww! I was a lil sad to not get as many levels as I wanted to. Definitely an amazing idea, as it incorporates that more strategic shooting with a survival aspect. I definitely had to get out my controller for this one just to see how it ran, and it ran great! Very nice simple pixel art design as it fits the theme well. Its very satisfying taking out the bigger fish using the smaller ones like mini bullets. I didn't even catch any bugs either, so I'm sure you looked into this for some time. I would definitely love more of this game! Its super smooth in general, the controls are not clunky, and its a great fun experience. Nice job :)

Hey! I tested out the game and its an overall really nice game :D

Bugs:
I'll just point a couple of bugs I spotted. On the tutorial level, blue actually doesn't need help from red, he just walked through the door for me. This was on the web browser version as well*

The only thing that happened was that red sometimes tried clipping through a wall at some point in level 1. And my final report is that you can still die after passing a level, it doesn't technically do anything, but the tutorial world featured the exploding robot and you can still technically "die" with the level being complete. It made no difference other than the UI clashing, but still thought I should mention that.

Pros: Overall a very nice calm soundtrack to kind of hit the retro cyberpunk music.
Incredible AI pathway finding as going into walls was not much of a problem, nor did they get stuck on walls.
Really nice voxel art! I like the overall feel.
In general, this game is very well rounded with nice design. The puzzles aren't too complex but the nice camera movement makes viewing the entire level easy and smooth.

If you were to release this as a full game I'll definitely keep updated. A recommendation would be cool to maybe have a power up or two for the robots to interact with. Such as maybe the robots switching positions when activating a power up, which can allow great puzzles.

Great job!

A great short game! I loved the classic RPG feel, it has very smooth camera movement, great pixel art, and its not too challenging either. Nice music to fit the daycare theme as well. I hope to see more from you in the future, I'll leave a follow :)

Also, poor billy really got called a friend. How sad for the man.

I love the pixel art! A very simple yet fun idea. Its great how you incorporated the classic movie disguise with two kids trying to get the food.

I only noticed 2 things, on the second level it was really hard for me to get the hat as Timmy wouldn't line up in position to grab it. And I also got stuck on a plant. I believe perhaps friction of some sort can help the player slide off of the plant so that way it prevents them from getting glitched. Overall, I think its great!

Definitely hoping to see more in the future :)

Thanks! The tileset used can be found here https://bakudas.itch.io/generic-dungeon-pack if you are interested :)
I just tried working with simple sprites as I don't have a crazy amount of pixel artist skills either, in the upcoming future I plan on making everything over from scratch and I would love to really get this game to its full potential.

Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you! I'm definitely working on it, my document for this game actually has a lot more content I want to implement, its just me learning the game engine to make this game really come to life. Comments like this definitely inspire me to continue learning about the Unity engine.

Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback! I'm trying my absolute best to learn pixel art, as its only been a week or two working with my simple sprites. I'll definitely check out your game as I'm interested to see your pixel art style :D

Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you! I made the simple sprites, the tileset was actually made here on itch.io! I thought it was great to go ahead and just learn tilesets in general so I can start making my own. https://bakudas.itch.io/generic-dungeon-pack here is the link to the tileset if interested.

Appreciate the feedback!

Thank you for looking into this! Its really inspiring to hear that my art is growing a little bit. There isn't too much of a "goal" for the current moment, but I definitely plan on incorporating a lot more to this game when I really understand the core basics of programming on Unity :)

Appreciate the feedback! I'll look into an objective system soon.

Thank you! I didn't add any physics materials..that sounds like a great solution. And I'll start checking out the cell gap issue, I do in fact use tile maps. SFX and music will also be kept in mind for a future release!

Thanks again for the feedback, its really helpful :)

Thanks for the response! I'll definitely take note of the sound. I'm starting to pickup on sound design, hopefully will also start learning how to make my own music loops.

I appreciate the feedback :)

Update: Just fixed it, I wasn't organizing the folders correctly. Everything is submitted now! Thanks for the help :)

Hello! I set it to none, but I still don't know what file to upload or how to upload?

Yes I have its unzipped form, but it just has a bunch of UNITYWEB files, a JSON file, and a UnityLoader which is a javascript file. I don't know what all of this means to be quite honest.

I just finished my prototype-ish game here. I got it to all be extracted for WEBGL and made it into a zip. But the game doesn't load?? It uses Unity, I've already watched tutorials and other tips provided, but it still doesn't load?

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to inspire me. I was really on the verge of just giving up until I have more experience. But I think this will just be my absolute best attempt with what knowledge I carry now. I'll see you in the submissions soon :)

You're definitely right! I'll just try and figure out my base mechanics that can be evolved over time. This project definitely seems like a WIP but I think it has a lot of potential when I learn what I want to do.

Hey, thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm sure many people are running into problems. I think my original idea will have to be put aside for the moment as its a small idea but I still think it'll be cool when I learn more about 2d. I'll keep it together and I'll submit it soon :)

I'm still really happy to be apart of it, but none of my game ideas really came in together as the way I planned due to my lack of knowledge. Does it really matter to have a fully complete game? I may just keep this game as something I constantly work on as I learn and hone my skills. I'm not too confident in this release 😓

Really!???! I've been stuck on this process for a while now. I've been trying to learn tutorials for a few weeks and I just can't seem to make a decent sprite for a robot.

Currently finished writing my story, mechanics, and characters. Onto making/finding a character sprite and working on movement.

Exactly. Thats whats nice about game jams. Even if it isn't the winning prize, your own prize is the knowledge you obtain. Also, meeting people here is very fun :)

Haha, yeah I'm working on a decent-ish laptop too. I just started unity a couple of months ago, how long have you been using it

Same! A little nervous to see how this turns out, but I'm really excited too :)

Thanks!

It is still a good test run of what can be a greater game in the future. Total props for at least finishing a game, I met some developers and they just dwell on their game doing nothing. Maybe someday you can modify this into a greater platformer. Good job overall

I am also aware of sarcasm existing. Have a good day ;P

Why the tea? The fuck are you? Some British boy or something?? You truly did give me a chuckle using asterisks to make yourself seem more "civilized." If you didn't care both of you didn't have to continue this. Sure its not a good game but its not a bad. I give props to the developer for at least producing something, since most developers lack motivation. Say what you need asterisk boy.

I am sure it is a great game when it is working. It definitely was smooth animation and it had nice level design, good luck with everything!

It can use some work. The colliders start to mix in with the environment and even the backdrop. Make sure your backdrop doesn't have colliders because now my character has a hard time jumping. You have to mash the spacebar for your character to sometimes jump. Hope you can get things fixed!

This is a very good start! I played the first level. The robot has smooth movement and jumps and the programming overall seems well. Although, I would say to try and fix the background or change it up. Overall its good!
