Game was free, I guess you get what you pay for.
I'm not trying to sound like an asshole here but this game is terrible as a game.
The Gameplay loop is un-fun and requires a lot of back tracking to the van to constantly save after every little thing you do because you don't know if some terrible gameplay of clipping up against the least scary spider of all time will just 1 shot this man who's made out of tissue paper and gum.
I get what you're trying to do it's clearly inspired by resident evil and there are some parts where yeah I really felt the vibe but it was just for a flash and then it was gone. It would've been nice if maybe the van travelled around as a mobile save station.Maybe if quests were a bit more guided properly you could use completion of certain parts as flags to move the van.
The Dialogue of this game is absolutely terrible, it's too long it's full of meaningless speech that isn't written with purpose so it just leads to alot of skipping through dialogue until you see objective based words. There are so many books to pick up from shelves and alot of them can't be read because they aren't finished and give an error for that.
I really don't think dumping exposition into the books is the way to tell whatever story you're going for here. You should do more showing and less telling. I mean even when it comes to the environment, the detective town before even going to the other area with the van is just a ghost town with no one in it and it makes you ask "Why is this guy even living here". Also the presentation of the detective apprentice feels hard to believe to be honest it feels like a mislead interpretation of what becoming a detective is like.
The game doesn't explain its self very well in terms of questlines, to the point it feels like there isn't any. It feels like a generic RPG maker game where you're wandering around a giant sandbox of stock assets until you hopefully do something to advance. But the gameplay loop just ends up being you slowly checking every single book shelf box and object one after the other in the least seamless way as possible it's a chore and kills the atmosphere.
The game feels like a test bench of just random systems that were being experimented with and just dropped onto itch.io one day. I mean you'll run into a guy and apparently he's just some addict dude on the street but he talks to you. Otherwise he looks normal, but the next guy you meet is a zombie for some reason?? OK, I guess we have those in this game now. It's now a zombie game, even though there's only like 1 zombie in this whole thing with red eyes.
Maybe being indistinguishable is intentional, maybe it's like the plant based bio weapons from resident evil or something but there just needs to be more guided, narrative establishment before throwing players out into the wild something anything.
It just has you thinking, "man, was this an adult game or like a weirdly empty visual novel thing?". Because where's the scenes, the only time I finally came across something was the mirror scene with the pink one and that was good but honestly the text was in the way like 90% of the time. Just add a wait section so theres nothing in the way for a bit before throwing more text on screen.
There was some random chick by a tree and it was suggested there's some kind of memory viewer or scene viewer but its nowhere to be found in the game idk.
I'm really not trying to tear you down on this one creator but, my honest feedback is. Localize the level design to smaller less sprawling expanses and make these compact zones more meaningful and communicate the intentions/player direction more clearly. Add a gallery, it would help a lot. The aimless wandering made me want to quit so many times. Not because of difficulty but boredom.
Give the player more options to save in different locations besides the van its too much back tracking. If the inspiration is Resident Evil I think you must be forgetting that RPD's main hall is a centralized area with zones branching off of it and the level design basically guides you in a big circle that at anytime allows you to easily navigate back to the center.
Lock in on what your themes and intientions are for your game, and deliver on the story based upon that. They just need to be polished (or exist idk if there really are any thematic elements here). What is the viewer/player supposed to feel at every moment. I don't think playing some sinister music and cartoonishly red screen tint is enough.
There was only like one moment where it seemed like the game was trying to introduce the player to these hostile enemies. Where it basically did an RE4 reference to being in a house and seeing some dude who seemed like a regular village dweller go hostile and try to kill you but that scene is practically optional and doesn't make things clear enough that everything is now a threat.
This is too all over the place. I recommend adding a plugin for omni directional movement or something too because shooting the gun can feel kinda jank and aiming the flashlight. Sure maybe restricted movement can help horror but I don't feel horror for this game just nuissance design.
Currently: 3/10
The Slime girl was the best part. Until she did that weird neck thing idk.
Bug Report:
If you play all the way through the Free Version of the game and copy your save file from free version to paid version you will spawn in with the lust bot ally behind you and it will force you into the introduction scene where you first find the bot so there will be 2 lustbots. One in your party, and one on the ground for introduction.
Short Review:
Both a Parody and Comprehensive NSFW RPG game, A.I.D.A. brings a unique spin on interactive gameplay to the NSFW gaming landscape utilizing the simplistic yet powerful tools of RPG maker. Very clear to see, the creator put much care into this game.
Loaded with fun NPC dialogue and a myriad of bosses and steamy scenes, it's hard to go wrong dropping 5$ on this game if I'm truly honest. Not many NSFW games stack up, to this passion project if you're looking for a stroke of your genius and a bit of fun too.
I've been looking for another good RPG Maker based game for a while now and I think this is the one. I've previously played games like "A.I.D.A." and "ASS: A Silent Statue" and enjoyed them both for their good tone, humor, and gameplay loops.
I can confidently say that I was pleasantly surprised when the story threw me in immediately to some well paced and written and funny dialogue moving at lightning speed. It kept my attention, didn't overstay its welcome and the presentation so far is pretty good.
It's not very heavy so far on combat elements, but for what I've seen it just indicates the creator knows what he wants to focus on and where he's trying to steer things so I'm optimistic about this game. Also sometimes I think NSFW games go too far with combat and fetch quests to pad things out so I personally don't mind the light weight combat system but will take more if it's done well.
If any recommendation i'd have it would be to have a menu based gallery, as I have played other RPG maker games and it's common to have a map where you manually walk from event to event to trigger scenes but if it was just a menu where you can easily click one after the other it'd make diving into scenes much more intuitive. Kinda like "ASS: A Silent Statue" I like the gallery there.
While I don't think the robot is the most amazing high poly model of all time or anything it doesn't look bad, and the quality animation the creator brings with the sense of taste for scene. Very impactful scenes I think and pesonal note I don't care what anyone has to say about this part but it's rare to see dark skin male protagonist as a lead in NSFW games so, hey big upps.
Good art direction, the hazy parallax maps and 80s neon color is a look that's hard to be disappointed with. The pacing, dialogue, and animation so far are pretty good too. The 3D models don't look bad and I think the mixed media approach really sets this apart from the average RPG maker wank. Keep it up MonkeyPoop I'm interested to see what's next.
The problem isn't that there's actually a gameplay loop, I think it's a good thing
to have more NSFW games have variety and more ambition about being an actual game.
The problem is, I think the game should be a little more transparent that it's more involved so players can have
a realistic timeframe for how much they can expect to get out of the time spent per session.
I'm sure people don't mind actually playing the Splatoon Esque challenges, and in fact it would be cool
to see if a NSFW game like this could actually have a multiplayer component someday so it's interesting for that too.
But in a landscape of NSFW games, most games allow you to get to something quickly or if not quickly do a good job of
establishing player expectations.
The game does make some efforts with dialogue but it feels maybe the dialogue needs to be revisited in a way that
makes the information a tiny bit more conscise about the gameplay loop. I'm sure people wouldn't mind a little bit
of a 4th wall break for clarity. Also I thought the little invisible people were a tiny bit hot but nothing
happened with them. I mean, don't ask me how to make a scene with an invisible person though.
Anyway, had to be more clear about that.
Good luck my guy.
Is losing 5 times in a row a normal new experience?
Also the girls don't seem to sexually interact with anything during the games didn't they used to do that? I'm spending so much time getting my ass beat learning the game that I don't even know where the Porn Begins! Also I have to learn how to invest?
Eh it's ok. They never give the puppet sex scenes in these games man she's like the hottest one.
Anyway serious feedback though, however the scene transitions are handled keeps resetting positions further and further away from the center to the point of being through the wall. I recommend trying to find some other way to do it if fixing that isnt currently possible.
Also it would be cool if there was support for the dong to follow a hip tracker. You can set Steam VR to be assigned to a hip tracker and that would be pretty good to control things yourself, maybe attatch some colliders to make the sounds foreach stroke.
Overview:
The game's short sweet, doesn't waste your time. Has a little mystery to chew on, all my favorite
NSFW games have a little to explore. This game brings similar feelings as some other games I have played such as:
SimilarTitles:
A.I.D.A. (But Shorter)
A Night With Laverne
My Dystopian Robot Girlfriend
Monolighter (Because there's Robo-Booty too)
Paccsu(In that there's a certain quirkyness to it)
Phasmohentaia (but less visual novel exploration)
Pros:
+This game's totally worth your 2 hours, and your 2.69$ or whatever, maybe 5$ even.
If you're looking for something refreshingly different from the wafting sea of generic adult games
I think this game is specifically made to be a good experience to unwind to after a long day if you have enough time alone.
+It has a unique art style that meets a sort of fun stylized look but the weightyness of 3D, maybe it's 3D models with paint on them
Fuses Blender, Digital Painting software and thoughtful use of RPG Makers systems to deliver a nice experience. Give it a shot.
Cons:
- My only Con is that the gallery would be a little better if you removed all the dialogue
and only added in the progressions of the NSFW sequences, also it's not very hands free friendly.
With some kind of automation system for scene progression and being able to swap between the Gallery
Scenes after each one ends that'd pretty much be perfect.
-Also I can see why the one character is the way it is because, I don't think the "Faces" is a strong suit
in this game. However the scenes with that one character in the locked office with the mystery plot stone
have very good animations and looks nice. So that one is a W, just not the one at the store.
Closing:
Best Luck to you Developer, and continue to make great games!
Looking forward to giving the UnrealEngine game a try sometime.
Review Readers should wishlist on steam imo it might help.
Not bad, you love to see unique stuff.
Feedback:
+Add some kind of way to play it hands free and automated
+Add an color wheel for the player character skin to be all kinds of wacky colors, blue, purple, etc color wheel would go a long way.
+Add option to transition inbetween scenes immediately or at least after going through the scenes once already.
Do you realize how Paradoxical it is to call me a racist? The guy who asked for more Racial accommodation, while you're sitting up here trying to peanut gallery me for even asking? You who would imply Racial omition is a simple matter of "creative liberty" and say skin color doesn't matter? You sound like an insecure gate keeper right now hiding your disdains under a thin illogical platitude.
