Oooooo… are these the same things included in the preordered box set? (Checking before I accidentally buy em all a second time.)

Thanks for the compliment!
And sure, you could bring in BDP skills and even change the rules on how they apply, whatever works for your table. The rules are pretty modular so flavor for taste.
On Push, Bleed, Brutal, it came down to not many weapons being covered by some abilities compared to others, so for the sake of simplicity I narrowed down the list. But you can certainly bring them back in.
Enjoy and please let me know how it goes!
- The Crimson Pagoda

Defenders of Koganemura is a four-day adventure for the Ikezu-Ishi RPG. Tasked with protecting the village of Koganemura from an impending bandit raid, players must train villagers, build defenses, and prepare for the final battle.
Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and designed for 2-7 players, Defenders of Koganemura is easily adaptable to other Cairn-inspired systems.
Just in time for the holidays, V1.0 of Ikezu-ishi is officially RELEASED!
Tightened up from v0.9 and a few more facts added I'm working on a separate adventure that'll help build the setting more, so stay tuned.
Enjoy and please let me know how your games go!
Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages, come one, come all for v 0.9 of Ikezu-ishi and enjoy!
This may be IT. Barring any massive edits or someone going "hey, you've completely missed the fundamentals of fun" I've told myself to stop adding and focus on cleaning up for final release. Whew. So v 0.9 may become v 1.0 if all goes well. Squee and stuff.
Tweaks:
- embraced Cairn 2e Warden’s Guide, woo
- Locations and Landmarks tables by terrain
- Good bye advantage/disadvantage, welcome back enhanced/impaired
- Expanded setting including a town and NPCs for folks wanting a place to get started
- Historical summary of Japanese periods with clans faction listings
- More…
Any thoughts, questions, impressions, confessions of undying love, just give a shout in the comments. And thank you for taking a peek at my little project here.
Thanks!
- GREAT point on the encounters co-mingling with player facing content. I'll rearrange, gotta settle on what goes where.
- No specific adventures come to mind right now, I've been generating as I go while kicking around a setting. Any adventures for Cairn could apply, just substitute encounters/creatures. I'll do a bit more digging and see if I can make any specific recommendations, tho.
I like both of the Electric Bastionland options there. Admittedly, the crawling portion of Ikezu-ishi is where I feel I'm weakest, but ideally it's modular enough that folks can bring in what they enjoy using. And wow, thanks for passing that along! Appreciate the kind words -- it's good motivation.
This is a big one, folks. Four new backgrounds, a slew of tables, encounters, weapon skills, dueling, tactics, and more! Chockful of full color graphics and some sidenotes to add a bit of history and flavor, this is COMPLETE game (but still in playtest mode).
Enjoy and please let me know any questions or corrections you might have.
Woo!
Woah, 8 sessions?!! That’s awesome! Curious what elements you’ve brought in from elsewhere - I really enjoy the modular nature of Odd/Cairn games, really helps playgroups build for their own tastes.
On organization and more - admittedly, I’m still trying to get that down. Part of that is the nature of my development (Oh! I should add a table for. . .) but also nailing down user flow. There certainly is no one way to do it, but I definitely need to figure a way to get this more organized.
I’m leaning toward pointcrawls lately, in part because of Cairn 2e and your point on them being easier to manage and run. Also, the more I play with them the more hexcrawls feel like a better tool for exploring unknown territories and worlds where this setting lends itself to more established maps and routes (to a degree). Terrain based encounter tables can still exist and be just as easy to use in a hexcrawl system so folks can swap if they want.
Thanks for the feedback - and for playing the game! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
