As people below have stated, this is a beautiful game. From the sound design to the visuals. Even the movement is on point.

In some places the dialog may have went on too long, but that is just my personal preference and I don't think its fair to judge the game poorly on that.

Overall a great submission, and I think I'll take some tips from this game in terms of atmospheric lighting, opposed to the lights I used in my submission.

Kudos!

Cool idea, but like some of the others have said, was very difficult to navigate because of the camera.

I think if the camera was either stationary at a specific height above/behind the player, it would be much easier. Another alternative would be to have it as a birds eye view, or a slightly angled birds eye view.

Apologies I couldn't offer much more in terms of feedback, but I just found it hard to progress very far.

Good job in submitting the game in a week though!

Pretty fun, although I'm not sure if it's just me, but I died once and then my exact next game I spawned in the bosses chamber with no escape!

As people below have stated, I stood no chance with the boss haha.

Also, I don't know what was happening but I don't think I managed to kill a single rat, the rats must have OP health.

Even though I never vanquished any of the enemies, I must say I enjoyed the game and gave myself a heart attack when I spawned in the bosses chamber.

Very cute visuals and even though the boss gave me a fright, he was also kinda adorable once I got to know him :)

Good job!

Very fun to play. I wasn't sure exactly what to do in the start, but as my score kept going up, I assumed I was doing something right ha!

I enjoyed the feel of frantic controls as the car moved and turned and i had to adjust my direction quickly.

Really good job!

Now this was fun!

Reminds me of a game from my childhood which we used to play on the old mac computers (the big green ones)

Very chill experience and satisfying music, sounds and movement. A very simple to play game with a simple objective, and one of my favourite games of the jam so far!

My only critique would be that as my pumpkin grew bigger, the camera would sometimes become obstructed, so it would be nice if the camera maybe zoomed out a little as the pumpkin grows in size.

Overall a great playing experience, great job!

The movement was a little bit annoying due to the orthographic layout of the design, so direction was a little bit shifted.

Other than the movement I enjoyed the game. The sounds were nice and the little roll you can do when pressing space looked really good.

The enemies were fun to try and beat, although some of the blobs were on you way too fast.

Overall, a fun experience!

Enjoyed my couple of attempts. Was a fan of the cute visuals and the sounds in the game.

Some of the enemies were annoying, but once I figured out that they don't keep up with you very well when moving diagonally, they became much easier.

Overall I enjoyed!

Thank you for the feedback!

Funnily enough when I was learning to draw my character, I was following a tutorial called "How  to Draw and Animate Hollow Knight Characters". Hopefully through time I will develop my own art style, but in the meantime, I'm happy with this  ha!

I think a lot of these issues could have been  avoided with some play testing, but thats a lesson learnt!

Again, thank you for playing!

Overall, I'm happy with my end product. I feel, for a first attempt at making a game, it was a fantastic learning experience. From the weird ways to make sound effects (bullet noise is just me clearing my through, with a bit of reverb added), to creating a dialog system and adding a bit of the ol' Scottish humour.

My one disappointment was that I never had anyone externally play test...  BIG NO NO. Most of my feedback has been something that would have taken less than 5 mins to fix, but because I never had play testers, I never even thought it would be an issue.

Another learning point is that when you submit your game to itch, IT DOES NOT automatically submit your game for the jam lol! I uploaded my game around 15 hours before the jam ended, but only realised that I had to submit the game to the jam separately a few hours before entries closed... that would have been devastating!

Shameless plug - but if anyone wants to hear my super professional sound effects and view museum level artwork then feel free to have a play here: https://itch.io/jam/vimjam/rate/76722

Would appreciate if I could have some ratings on my game. I'm going to be playing a lot more of these over the next day or two, so I'll try to go through as many of these ones as possible!

Bloody hell this game was difficult!

I boldly went ahead to try this game without going through the tutorial first, safe to say thats a lesson learnt.

After my initial incompetence, and when I learned how to play the game, I must admit - masterpiece.

Such a simple looking game but with so much potential. Would seriously enjoy playing more of this if it was to continue in development.

Great job!

Crazy to think this was made in a week!

Very good game, fantastic artwork and a good few chuckles in there as well.

I thought I would try this game out quickly and ended up sticking with it for a good 30-45 minutes or so! Could play it over and over

I feel that the slide control needs some work. It wasn't too responsive for me and I found I was getting stuck more often than not. Perhaps a click and drag arrow that gives the same amount of power behind each movement.

Pretty fun game and I enjoy how the collectables theme was implemented with collecting your own body parts again. I also enjoyed the taunting you added when I kept getting stuck, bravo!

Overall a fun game, but found myself getting frustrated with it fairly frequently.

Thank you for your feedback!

Yeh thats pretty much the strategy - upgrade your weapon as high as you  can and just keep jumping and shooting. Wanted to  try something more elaborate for the boss, but didn't have the time unfortunately so stuck with my first iteration

Thank you for your feedback. I thought the lighting would have been a problem, but ignored it as I knew where they were - naive error in judgement haha!

Thanks1

I enjoyed the gameplay. I found myself getting more hooked the more I failed! It was quite difficult to judge my movements due to the camera angle.

My progress was lost when I accidentally jumped through a wall though haha! Very cool game though, I enjoyed

This was my first jam and I uploaded last night to itch, but I legit just noticed the submit button on the jam homepage!
Thank goodness for the email that was sent out earlier reminding us haha!

Same here! I only picked up Unity a month ago, so wanted a baptism of fire ha

Hope you had as much fun as I and learnt lots!
