This is the smoothest animation I've seen here.

Too bad that the idle animation is not part of the main Aseprite file and is in it's own file + different size than the sprites on the Aseprite file, which makes it quite hard to edit to get it to work in unity,

If you would add the idle in the Aseprite file, then it would be perfect, really great job regardless :)

P.S. I'm hoping for some sort of blocking animation, if possible.

*edit* I was able to copy the idle frames and rotate/place them using onionskin feature within Aseprite and now I got the fluid animation working.

Quite nice game, smooth gameplay and I had fun most of the time. Only thing I found to be less than ideal: ball changing in P button, could be in right mouse button also, but that's just me. 

Overall: 4/5 :)

You control a battleship in space and try to survive destroying asteroids and alien spaceships as long as you can while gathering score.


This expansion brought even more aliens to the mix that arrives from random portals to bring more chaos. How long can you survive?

Hi, I've created a game using asteroids as inspiration. You destroy asteroids and aliens spaceships to get upgrades for your ship and while doing so you try to travel towards the planet by constantly moving and when you do get to the planet, you gain boost to your ship.

Asteroids - Far Away From Home used to be linked to game called Arcade Games Hub and was browser game, but I found out problems with the saving system in that and I couldn't figure it out and so I made a decision call to change the structure from browser to downloadable.

So I changed to projects name and texts to be only about the asteroids game and there you have it.

I got the idea of doing this from the original asteroids that I played as a kid and liked so I decided to try to make a game somewhat like that.

Here's little bit about the game in general, the game is about surviving in space and trying to get to home planet all while destroying asteroids and other threats. You gain upgrade points, power ups, arcade points while playing and ship boosts when you reach home planets. You can upgrade your ship from the main menu.

  • There's no actual story in the game other than the directive to reach the planet and it's all repeatable content and can be played forever.
  • Controls are very simple, you use your mouse to do everything. You aim with your mouse, left button shoots and right button moves the ship.
  • You destroy asteroids and have a chance to gain upgrade points from them and some arcade points and  while doing so, you try to reach the planet by constantly being on the move.

Thank you so much for playing my game and giving me feedback. It means a lot!

I'd like to try to explain some points you found,

1) The menu system used to have 2 modes,..story and arcade, but I took out story mode and I never remembered to took out that extra menu out. I'm surely going to remove it in the future update. So in the future the Arcade button should take the player straight to game.

2) The lore is bad, I'm not good at making story stuff good. I need to think about that and make the lore more simple as the game is too.

3) All asteroids can be destroyed, big ones just take a lot more to  destroy and yes they need to communicate to player somehow that they have taken damage, I just didn't find a way to do that yet. Absolutely something to think about for next update.

4) Alien ship is super strong and it's just is to be dangerous element to keep player on it's toes even in the middle of chaos, it can be destroyed but much later in the game. I might have made it too strong in the update 2. I need to keep that under consideration.

5) The upgrades and their tiny effects.. yes you are totally right that they are underwhelming when bought. I need to re-think those as well. The 1000 costing once used to be quite easily obtained in the previous versions and they have the most effect from the upgrades, but in the update 2 they do seem quite costly. I haven't been testing that update much yet so that's something to look at also.

6) The ship  animations.. yup sounds about right.. even my friend didn't like them, I just go used to them while making the game.. Definitely something to think about changing for better at some point.

Thank you again, this helps me tremendously to make my next update for the game, hopefully I am able to make the game even better. I'm  also going to take this feedback to my heart for my future games so I don't repeat my mistakes.

You gain upgrade points by either dying and score is turned into upgrade points or by arriving to the home planet, in which case you get extra bonus reward. You also might get loot from the things you destroy that contains upgrade points.

There are upgrades for new engines and weaponry, they are added to the ship visually too, and upgrades for thrusters, weapon damage, shield power and weapon fire rate.

Statistics are kept from distance traveled and highest score you have reached and you can see them from the main menu.

Saving is automatic and in case of suddenly closing the game, you should only loose the score you have gathered so far, those won't give you upgrade points, but the upgrade points you have gained otherwise from loot and time rewards, those you get to keep.

Controls are quite simple and are on screen by holding down C. WASD to move and mouse to aim and left mouse button to shoot.

You get closer to the planet by moving and you can view objectives by holding down O key and controls you can see by holding down C key.

You are given a quest to find a special crystal within dangerous dungeon. You control a familiar and collect crystals and destroy monsters using abilities, then use those crystals in your alchemy research to upgrade your abilities and stats.

Story:
Soul Realm King created a clone from himself and that's you. He then sends you to collect souls for him so he can escape from the prison. Are you ready to do his bidding or will you discover something else on your journey.

1) Flying bots move super fast and the missiles almost instantly hits you. (I play on 120hz monitor, I wonder if that has anything to do with it).

2) I got 582-587 coins at the cemetery, because some of the flying bots just disappear after you hit them. Especially the one that is right after Dr. Phil and you punch it to the right. I tried it the second time as well and it did happen again.

3) Flying bots are waiting at the floor after you hit them when you go after them later.

So mostly bugs are about flying bots and nothing else.

Really runs great, awesome game so far. Can't wait to see the rest of the game after the cemetery when you get those "features" fixed :)
