So, after months of work getting myself up to league 1 given the old (fun) dynamics of the game, I've now been booted down to league 8 because I'm too underpowered. 

Great!  What an absolute waste of all my hard work to achieve what I had achieved.

This was a pretty cool game at the back end of July (it had its issues, but I was playing every day).  Since the 3 August update, I've barely played, and I just can't see myself going back

Agree - not a chance now.  I don't stand a hope in any Tower fights any more.  I had steadily worked my way up to League 1 over a number of weeks before the update.  I have HP of 382k, but every fight I start in League 1, my opponent has a minimum of 2500k. 
I'd have to keep playing and playing to get kicked down level after level after level without a single win until I'm back to where I was many weeks ago.  That's not fun or motivating.

Definitely sad that the game has been ruined for me, but on the bright side, I've gained back a huge amount of time that I was spending playing.  The update also good for my wallet - it has completely removed my appetite to spend money on the game.

OMG! This change will kill the game for me. I used to spend way too much time on this, but now each game takes absolutely ages.
In trying out the change, I bothered to beat Octopus in Dungeons, but it's going to take me forever to get through my first PvP in Tower.  I'm part way through it and I'm bored out of my mind.

I'll check in again in a few days to see if the game is somewhat back to playable, but otherwise I'm out.
