I like the animation, but, seriously, it looks like his pants are going to pop!

And, that tight? His c*ck and b*lls must be in agony!

Thank you for making the mini-guide!

And, I just realized, I know of the perfect site where I can share your game!

I hope you are doing well, and, again, thank you so much for making this game!

Iä! Iä!

 **

Just to let you know, the notice for this post says there are 5 new images with it and shows thumbnails of them, but when I come to your actual post, I can't find those 5 images.

Iä! Iä! P'ppydrag'n fhtagn!

W00T!

Congratulations!

And thank you!

Ah, I see what you are doing. Originally it sounded like you were going to possibly doing major revisions to the entire game, but actually, it is the artwork. Okay then! GO FOR IT!

And, ooooooohhhh! You mentioned "future games"!!!

♥♥♥♥♥

When I think of what you are planning on doing, I think of how fans of Half-Life remade the game into Black Mesa.

Of course they had teams working on *that* for at least a decade....

*lol* I don't expect you to invest that much time and effort, but I do like what you have planned. I did suggest you give some of your characters different builds from the body-builder-type. Also, you could introduce perhaps more different racial types, like Asian or Indian.

And perhaps you might add content to the story inside, adding more details, or even adding sub-plots that might then tie into the main plot — or perhaps just be a dead end (but still fun!)

One warning: Do you know of the Mythos author T.E.D. Klein. He has written some excellent Mythos fiction (and other fiction in general). But his output of material is somewhat small — because he keeps rewriting what he wrote, and then rewriting that, and then rewriting that.... *sigh* He is such a *good* author, I and others wish there was more of his works to read.

Just as you did with this 0.9.9 version of the game, you *ARE* going to be learning now to do things better by doing them over again — and also, the technology will keep improving. So promise yourself that the 1.0.0 version will be your *FINAL* version of Leather and Madness (barring any bug-fix updates).

And then move on to making a *NEW* game — or doing something entirely different: maybe write a gay Mythos *novel* instead. Don't fall into the trap of always wanting to make L&M better and Better and BETTER....

Well, unless you decide to redo the whole thing *two decades* from now.

:)

After reading that post, I think the Mythos aspects of your game have driven you to MADNESS!

I look forward to playing to the end — and then replaying the revamped game in the future. (Is this going to be like Half-Life remade as Black Mesa?!)

My one suggestion, for now, is I would personally like to see some of the characters have different builds from the "body-builder-type".

AND, again,  thank you for making this game!

I'm impressed with the many multiple endings -- and I still think Valentine's Day would be a very appropriate day to release the final game (I CTHULHU!) -- but earlier will be acceptable.  :)

I haven't been able to do much computer-wise for several weeks now due to my OS getting damaged. However, I decided not to bother to fix it, but instead do something I have been planning for some time, get a really GREAT high-end computer, which is being built for me now.

Alas, there was been a delay due to the guy (who is a whiz when it comes to computers!) becoming very sick for about a week.  *sigh*  Still he is a very nice guy and I think this new computer will be worth the wait!

I'm looking forward to the ending(s) of "Leather & Madness".  Thank you so much for combining gay male character and the Cthulhu Mythos and BDSM!  :)

I'll be waiting for the sequel game!   :)

**

So, February?

Perhaps a Mythos Valentine's Day gift for all your supporters and game players?

I saw the email you sent out about that and quickly download and installed the new files.

Buggy software does seem to be the endless curse of game makers and I give you credit for dealing with the problems reported to you and getting out an update so quickly.

Thanks again for your game, timoteoxo!

Thank you for that information.

I've bought a number of game of Itch-io (and I try to a least do a basic support for all their creators on Patreon).

But, darn, I get confused at times with which games I have where you insert the new files into the old ones or where you just start/continue play with the new files.

I had actually start the game yet at all, so I'm in a better position the some of your long-time players in having to deal with less complications.

Thank you for your reply.

P.S. I make my own special folders (slightly censored here) and start icons for each of the Itch-io games I play.  :)

(1 edit)

I just want to be clear about this, so I don't screw up this update!

Does this new update include the whole game — or do I need to insert the new files from this update into the folder with the previous games files?!

Different itch-io game creators have you to do different things, and since I haven't play this game yet (I only found out about in a few weeks ago!), I want to be SURE I get things right.

THANKS.

(FYI: You might want to update the title image above with the new version number.)

**

I'm really looking forward to this update!

Bound for College was one of the first visual novels I played and I was so very happy to find there were such gay video games.

It's been a long dry spell (at least it has felt that way to me) since the last major update to the story, so I'm exciting that will be continuing soon.

My only request is that, hopefully, game story updates happen more often!
**

Thanks for the reply. I'm more use to playing Ren'Py-based games than Unity ones, so I just wasn't sure what could and could not be done while playing. That information helps.

As far as screenshots go, I'll skip using Steam and use the "Print Screen" key on own keyboard.  :)

**

Anything for Chaosium?

Hi.

Do you have a list of key commands for "Wand Out" and Unity games in general?!

What I am asking for is what keys do I press to do things like how to pause the game, how to take screenshot without there being text on the screen, and also how to restore the text once you've taken a screenshot, and other such things.

It would be helpful if such information were in the game itself. Maybe there is, but I haven't found it yet.   :(

THANKS!

P.S. I made my own start icon for "Wand Out":

Iä! Iä!

As I said, I can wait. I'd much rather see you take the time and though and effort to do it WELL, instead of fast.

And, maybe this is way *too* soon, but do you have any plans for a game after this one? I would love to see *more* gay-related Mythos; it is so very rare to find it in any form!

If you plan to take a break after finishing this one, that would be very understandable. I do hope you continue to make more games however.

I know you are an author IRL. Have you thought of writing a gay Mythos novel under a pseudonym (as I know you write YA books and would want to keep them separate)? And, as I've told you, I do read YA books at times....

*

BUT I WANT IT NOW!

But I can wait...  :)

*

Hello. I just purchased this game for a little extra.

I plan on signing up to your account at Patreon, but I'm going to wait until the start of next month, because that's when I have all my Patreons' support come due.  :)

While the prison setting does not particular interest me, the fantasy elements you have included in your game  look absolutely amazing  and well-developed.

I have been a science fiction, fantasy, and horror fan for my entire life and it has been very difficult, until I discovered visual novels, to find SF/F/H video games with any real gay content.

Likely many others have commented, I do deeply hope you continue to make this game, especially given all the thought and work you have put into this new version of it.

Bravo!

Are we absolutely SURE that vampires don't have bat-like penises?!

Ah, the ties that bind....

That's a downer with Steam not accepting AI-generation graphics. I've seen some excellent IA graphics that would be outstanding in some games. I understand not wanting to take work for artists, but I do think it will turn out to be somewhat short-sighted.

I know there is a lot of negative reaction to AI art, but my feeling is it certainly has its uses. I likely have the skill to plot and write a damn good gay horror visual novel myself, but I lack the skill do to the artwork for it. If I could have an AI do that work (and I would still have to accept images it produced before including them -- and I am capable of minor graphic editing), I would be able to produce something *good*, I believe.

One suggestion, which I mentioned once months ago, if you do to another game, give the characters *different* physical builds. One think I have found distracting in the game is that all the human characters have body-builder builds. Adding some characters with more normal-builds or swimmer-builds or even someone overweight would help the "realism" of your games. IMHO, of course. Others mileage may vary!

Thank you so much for doing a kinky gay Mythos game! It made me extremely happy to find one!

**

I think the separation of Day 7 from the epilogues will work for the best given that.

But I was also am thinking of it from a literary sense. (I'm an avid reader, as I've mentioned before.) One of the things about epilogues is they ARE suppose to take place *after* the main story has ended. So doing them them apart, I feel, might give a better visual *novel* experience and also means you can get Day 7 out faster and  when you release the epilogues, it will be like a dessert for your players .

One of the other game creators I follow/support, put one of their finish games on sale on Steam about a month ago. Now you said you didn't want to do this for money, but you could make it free or just a token cost. I certainly would like to see it there, because it is so very difficult to find gay-related games, especially kinky ones, Especially horror ones, ESPECIALLY Lovecraftian ones! On Steam you would reach a wider audience. (Of course, I have NO idea what is involved in getting a game on Steam; it might not be practical for you.)

S0 — do you have plans for the sequel yet?!

:)

**

I'm really looking forward to playing Day Six!

But from what you wrote about the next game update, is there more to Day Six, because you said that you are "pondering whether to combine it with the seventh day and the epilogues...?"

Depending on how long the Epilogues are, I would rather they be released separately from Day Seven.  To me, that just feels more appropriate.

I really like the image of all the characters together!

Oh, in this article's tile, you have "6h day has arrived."  Do you mean "6th day has arrived?"

Keep on creating, Puppydragon!

P.S. My own starter button for L&M:

**

Sadly,  other than being male, a  love of books, and knowledge of the Mythos, we have very little in common.  *sigh*

Thank  you much, Puppydragon!

It just helps me to keep things organized. (I'm a retired librarian so organizing is just part of my life. (I have 1000s of ebooks catalogued on my computer using the free software Calibre. I often end-up revising or making my own ebooks covers, just like I will often design unique folder covers and "start buttons" for the itch.co games I own.)

So, again — THANKS.

Well, I just bought "Wand Out" on Steam, after having played the Demo from here on itch.io (it was amusing and sexy), so I *really* hope this guide will be worth it.

I had some earlier release as v0.7 and v.07.1 so something is off somewhere. I'll guess and change them to 0.3 and 0.3.1.  This might not seem that important, but I had one creator here (and on Pateron) who had around 24(!) game development releases he'd put out -- but he kept changing how he named them (and they were of the type where you had to add the new files into and over the folder with the previous game version files) and it got REALLY confusing fast; plus he had made 8-10 mini-games(!) and sometimes he would do releases for two games in one file! I asked him (nicely!) if he could make a list so I could be sure I had all his games *and* in the right order and he kindly did, which was a big, big help to me (and I suspect to others who were new to his games, like I was.) ### The main reason I ask this is I want to be sure I have the most recent game dev file when I play. ### THANKS AGAIN.

I dislike bothering you like this, but what is the version number of the current release? I looked at the data of the various parts of the game and opened the game itself, but cannot find this.

It's just I'm a pack rat and I keep the previous compressed versions and I don't know how to identify the number of this version.

THANKS.

ANOTHER update already?!

*** THANKS ***

Hello,

I've been getting a lot of emails about "Alpha Brotherhood," which I will say I am not interested in. It seems to be a cliché.

I am, however, interested in "Wand Out" — which I find amusing and sexy — and the last update on that was 2 months ago for a demo.

I downloaded "Wand Out" from Steam and plan to purchase the *full* game from there — if it is ever finished.

So, I am wondering if it *will* ever be finished because from the emails I get, it seems like "Wand Out" has all but been forgotten — and the focus now is on "Alpha Brotherhood" *only*.

Is Male Doll still working on "Wand Out" and, if so, when will the next development of it be released?

Thanks.

CTHULHU PLUSHIE  APPROVES!

**

Just to be sure of things:

1) I have a version of your game file I downloaded on 06/14/23 that is 131 MB in size and another I download on 06/28/23 that is 132 MB in size (which is the one that appears above as version 7).

Are these two zip files the *same* version, but the 1 MB larger the one with the patch for v.7?

2) For future reference! With the release of new versions of your game, will each release have the *complete* game -- or do you have to merge the newer files into the older game files that you already have?

I've found it varies from game to game here on itch.io. Some creators always give you the *complete* game in their new releases — while others require you to merger the newer game files with ones from earlier versions.

I just want to be sure I get it correct with "Leather & Madness" — I don't want to ruin things for myself!

THANKS.

I agree with Nymrod that you should do what is comfortable for you.

But as for my personal choice, I would prefer just getting emails when there is a new release — the exception being that you are actively looking for input on some aspect of the game or are doing a poll or such.

I do have one personal suggestion for you, which I do not know is possible or not. That is, could you have some characters who have different body types? Like thin or average build or very tall or short and so on? Right now many of the characters seem to have , from the images you've posted, all body-builder-type of physics. I think have a range of different body-builds would help make the characters more unique.

(I was going to add that, in my opinion, it would also make the game "more realistic" but you are doing a game about the Cthulhu Mythos, so....)

I will say I have only played  a very little of your game, because I have been dealing with a lot of not-good-stuff in my life for most of this year, and I am literally saving playing it for when I am in a better mood and will be able to enjoy it a lot more.   :)

I will also add that because it is something I enjoy doing with itch.io games, I made my own start button and folder for "Leather & Madness" using  (of course) your own artwork — and I went *dark* on the folder.

leather-cthulhu-start-image

folder-leather&madness-image

Both are fine with me, because I enjoy both.

I would say do what *you* want to do — what keeps *you* interested in continuing to make the game. As bsgbsm1 wrote below, we don't want you to burn out!

Also, in case you are not aware of it (and I have no idea if it is a place you can get to), there is a Lovecraftian convention called NecronomiCon Providence:

https://necronomicon-providence.com/enter/

It's held every 2 years and this is the off-year, so the next one won't be until 2024. (The biennial (every 2 years) was my idea so as not to burn out the organizers (and thus my concern for you) and to make the convention as bit more special and accessible to those attending.)

It is LGBT-friendly as I was one of its co-founders and organizers for the first 5 ones. Gamers and game-makers were always part of it, so I suspect the current organizers might be interested in you as a possible program participant. (I'm no longer involved in the running of it.) Just something to keep in mind when 2024 comes around.
