Thanks! There's definitely something satisfying about filling up the map. If I come back to rework this game, I think I'll try adding pods with different growing patterns, like twisting lines, or forking branches.

Glad you liked the look/feel of the growing! The first version had a more consistent pattern, but ended up feeling a bit boring. I prefer this version, where other parts will shrink depending on where you place the pods.

Thanks! I think it definitely has room for improvement though. Once I have time again, I'm going to build this up a little more so there's more to do, maybe like an RTS / tower defense mix.

Thanks for playing my entry on your stream. You were a good sport about the jank, and had an enthusiastic and positive energy.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I blew a lot of time tuning the growth mechanic and a lot of quality of life stuff got skipped just so I could finish and submit. I might come back and do this up properly.

Submitting my game to the Poverty category, lol: https://tupperwarez.itch.io/fungus

Thanks! I wanted to add more defensive effects, like making bugs attack each other, but didn't have enough time. There's definitely a lot that can be added to flesh out the gameplay. Maybe I'll come back to this project later.

Thanks! It uses old code from a different project, unfortunately I discovered that it runs very slowly when the grid size starts getting big. Spent too much time trying to fix it, ended up skipping a lot of features I wanted to add, lol.

Interesting 'option' drone mechanic. Reminds me of G-Darius or R-Type, although this game emphasizes the absorption mechanic. Playing around with the orb parameters like size, shape, and hitbox could lead to interesting gameplay variations, maybe?

Yes, unfortunately the map is not well optimized, as it uses a breadth-first search and too many loops to calculate the growth. A better algorithm would go a long way to improving it. Oh well, next iteration I guess!

Thanks! I wanted to add more defense options that manipulated the behavior of the bugs, but I didn't have enough time, sadly.

Nicely implemented tower defense mechanics, and nostalgic retro music.

Shooting and bullet hits feel very satisfying. The background growth of the world is a bit subtle and might get lost when the action gets hectic.

Nice sense of escalation, I think. The sound design gives it an alien/horror feel, almost like Silent Hill?

Movement sometimes feels odd, though, the speed feels inconsistent. Do you move faster on diagonals?

I like the softbody, really gives that blobby feel. The pressure indicator made me think the blob would explode messily if it got too high, haha. Maybe a feature add for the next version?
