Hi!
The Red Herring cards are your pile of Clue cards (I avoided calling them Clue cards too often, because I didn't want to give Hasbro a reason to send Pinkertons after me. haha) that you'll deal out to use during the game. Looking at it again, I could try to squeeze that in earlier.

As for step 8, I can also add a little more. But players should spend some time inventing a character (name, pronouns) and reasons why their character know the Clue Characters (Mrs. White, Prof Plum, etc). Then, they should go around the table, like they're at a dinner party, introducing themselves. "I'm Edward (he/him), and Colonel Mustard is my uncle."

It's been a couple of months, so this is probably due for an update. Thank you for checking it out! I hope that makes it clearer, and feel free to reply back with more questions.

That warms my heart! Hope you have fun on the trash heap. :)

Oh! I hadn't realized they'd run out.

A full review would be absolutely lovely, but I'll go ahead and add some more CCs to the pile either way. (And if by some chance they run out again, I'll make sure you get one!)

Hi! Thanks! I hope you enjoy the game. :)

So the way I did it for the prototypes was to print 2 pages on the front, and 2 on the back, of 8.5x11 (Letter) sized paper.

I thiiink you could do Legal if you cut them in half, and then arranged them accordingly, but I didn't test it out that way. So I'd be interested to hear/see the results if you go that way!

I think it's coming next week, and this is a preview page?

I did have to file the serial numbers off, but the shape remains the same. :)

As folks play, I'm super curious to hear what kinds of motives you all invent.

Yes, I may use some of that info for future updates, but also I think it's a really neat way to explore the themes of the game and I just wanna hear it!

Hello there!

Wow, thank you! I'm really glad you had a good time with this game. And honestly, I have been a little worried that the prompts wouldn't keep people's attention. But I'm thrilled to hear that they seemed to do what I hoped.

Thank you so much. This really made my day.

oh dang! That's intense. Glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, I think the probability works out a little funky in that regard. But, well, I bombed Stats in college. I think this is a worthwhile note to add to a future edition, though!

I don't think it's a perfect replacement, but it works like mostly OK if you've got no other way to play Tarot-based games. I can't think of many other use cases beyond Anamnesis games, but I figured I'd throw it into the world in case it was helpful for someone.

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

While I get that this was designed as a foldable zine, I am giving a lot of thought to printing this out and making into a small deck of cards. The art is so pretty, the verses so evocative, and the ability to draw one at random really intrigues to me.

I'm picturing it for character generation ("where are you from?") as well as random settlements and/or rumors for players to explore ("There's a song you've heard about this place. It goes...").

I'm just captivated by this thing today. It's so lovely!

Thanks! I hope it causes fewer fights than actual Overcooked. But not zero.

Then I hope your next party is an absolute mess (but like a fun mess)

Thanks so much!

Thanks! I'm now trying to think of ways to turn the tables so players could actually investigate the murder, but that seems like a completely different ARCventure to me. :)

I've actually never played the Hitman games, but honestly from what I've heard, this sounds like a huge compliment! Thank you!

Thanks! That's exactly what I was going for, and I'm glad it came through!

Yeah! I really don't think the post office component is required, I mostly wanted to encourage folks to use the USPS during a time when it was sort of at risk. I'm cool with you using it in a more online format, and I'd be interested to hear how it goes!

Thanks for the comments!

Haha. I should definitely give it a second pass. Inspiration hit me for this like 2 days before the Game Jam ended, and I wanted to make sure I actually made it. :)

Thanks! I hope you get the chance and would love any notes or feedback. (I pulled it together pretty fast, so it may be a bit rough)

oh! Yeah, it just means a set of polyhedral dice. I think you just need d6 and d10 (maybe 2d10? It's been a while since I read this one).

If you have the full set, you're fine, though!

Hey this rocks, thank you!

Hey there! Thanks for the interest in the game. :)

In case there is some confusion, there should just be some PDF files. This is a tabletop RPG, rather than an app. Which may explain why it's not showing up in the installer. (I realized I had the "Games" category, rather than "Physical Games" selected).

Offhand, I'm not 100% sure where PDFs go in the Itch installer, but I did just see the files on the game page. But let me know if you still can't get 'em, and I'll see if I can send them another way.

Just updated the files. I'd always meant for that to be the actual format, but didn't really know what I needed to do to make it so.

That said, keep me posted if it prints weird and I'll see if I need to do more.

Oh! Short answer is, I think I've learned just enough to whip this together quickly. Next time I'm in the kitchen (which is apparently what I'm calling the computer I have Affinity on), I'll see what I can do!

Thank you so much!

I've been working in cybersecurity for a few years now, which is kinda where I got the idea. That's what I was going for, so I'm really jazzed to hear that it landed!

I was just about to pop in with this same tweet. Good call.

This is very relatable content.

I may have just forgotten to include it... I would say 3-5 players, that's what the system is designed to work with.

That said, I haven't tried playing with more than four chefs, or as a two-chef, GMless experience (with someone pulling double-duty as the head cook). I could see it working, although you may need to make some menu adjustments so you don't lose too much of the chaos.

Thank you as always for the insightful and delightful comments. It really sounds like Colossal Wreck is hitting the notes I wanted it to hit, so thanks as always for the feedback.

The 'What happens when your card castle collapses' table was more or less the seed that the rest of the game grew around. So, I always love seeing that being a major point of interest for folks.

(Thanks also for the fix notes. One of these days I'll learn how to a) operate tables in Affinity, and b) spell the title of my own game. Just uploaded a new, fixed version!).

Thank you so much!

Yes, In reality, the terms "Brute-Force" and "Password Spray" are very close in meaning (I don't think interchangeable, but a password spray is a type of brute-force attack). But, seeing as not everyone who plays this reads as many cybersecurity reports as I do... I should maybe make some updates. Appreciate the notes!

Oh snap. I'm sorry, I completely spaced on this comment. Definitely useful feedback (and I've learned a ton about Affinity since I made this update).

I'll see what I can do!

Thank you!!

It was an absolute blast to write. And then to discover it's part of a tradition: https://itch.io/c/1546288/locked-tomb-fan-rpgs

Thanks so much! I'm glad someone noticed the gradient, that was me showing off.

Thanks for the heads up on the bolding, as well. I'll take a look and make some updates!

Ah, I misunderstood that. haha.

I'll hit you up on Discord, if that's cool! (We're both in TTR)

Oh, wow, thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Would love to see and hear some stories of your Lake Towns!

This game is adorable, and I would love to either play it with a friend, or even be the subject of the game (I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I love the idea behind it). It's very simple, and I could see it being a really fun game to play with a mutual friend about a roommate or partner--or just with a group that you're comfortable with.

The art is adorable, and it feels like a very easy game to pitch. The rules are simple and clear, and it's a pleasure to read. Definitely recommend it as a fun game between sessions or campaigns.
