Thank you for playing! Appreciate that. :>

Thank you for playing! Glad you liked it. :)

I enjoyed the playthrough! Very interesting ideas with so little to work with. A hidden gem for sure.

This is so c u t e

Love how the small little cheeks wobble in the idle animation. Well done!

Very atmospheric! Well done for such a short amount of time.

It also has the same logo/thumbnail as the game I did for last year's game jam lol

Here we go! Feedback to The Inbetween has been phenomenal so far, but we still need two more ratings to crack the 20.  :(

Edit: Played your game, almost cleared wave 3. Good job for your age! :)

"I did all the programing in multi media fusion 2.5" I never even heard of that lol

THE BABIES THOUGH

9/10 would cry myself into sleep again

Ohh, thanks for playing and even streaming the game! It was interesting to see the thought process of someone playing the game for the first time.  :>

That's the thing I am most bummed about, because I HAVE written additional story elements, like interacting with a book shelf or painting on the wall to read more about the environment you're currently in - but there just wasn't enough time in the end to implement all that. I did throw together the whole ending screen like 20 minutes before the deadline LOL.

Edit: Just watched the rating portion of the stream. Loved the insight on that. And I agree with everything you've said. Still appreciate that you rated it highly!

Thanks for the feedback and the compliments! It's always easy to think "I could've done more", instead of being proud of what you have accomplished. I am still bummed out about some things I couldn't fix/implement due to time and some miscommunication in the team haha.

If you're interested in the typewriter sound effect, it's a pack I recorded myself some time ago - it's on opengameart and free to use!

That's definitely something we gotta put onto our todo list! Thanks for the feedback. :>

Have you learned anything new while making the game? :>

Oh, Aiko is a Godot game! I could never get into this engine. How easy was it for your team to make the game with it? It looks cute though!

Hi there! I am the brain behind the game jam entry The Inbetween.

It's a short and simple mystery detective game, however the reception is surprisingly positive so far.

Great game! Nice atmosphere and tone. The eerie feeling was amazingly done. - Triton Games
Loved the vibes of this game! This game could be a serious contender for winning the jam! - MostlyHarmless042
I absolutely loved the theming and the writing, and the music was excellent. Great work! - CountThrepe

Of course, there are also some things that aren't working as intended or are to be improved upon in the future. That's why I appreciate everyone that tries out the game and leaves a comment as they are valuable for further development.

I was responsible for the theme, game design, programming, story, visuals, music / sfx, while I had an additional programmer on my side and an artist who did the pixel art. Also, ask me anything! I'll try to answer any comment or question you might have about the game and even try to play your games (even though I won't have time for all of them). :>

Thank you for playing The Inbetween,

Thanks again! uwu
Just played your game. I love that it's a visual novel (I'm a sucker for those). And it even has proper scene transitions! :D
Although in these transitions you can already advance the text which then pop up on the dark background until the scene is loaded.
You already have that in your "known issues". Maybe I should add something like that to my game too haha.

Also, if you ever want to enter a jam together, hmu :>

Oh boy, thanks so much! That means a ton. Especially when I've felt the whole time that I 'could've done so much more with a little bit more time'.

And yeah, somehow the cranking mechanic for the music box is busted in the build lol (works in the editor just fine). But you can actually skip the dialogue text with right click! (It's shown in the intro at the bottom left)

Beautiful little gem. :>

Thank you! I'll take those compliments by heart as theme, writing and music/sfx were all by me - although I couldn't have brought my ideas to life without my team! :>

Just played yours and so far it's definitely one of my favourites of the jam. And it is indeed similar in its core. Well done!

Thank you! Appreciate that :)

Yours was pretty neat too! I like the idea of doing the levels backwards again. The game also has a pleasing colour palette.

It was the easiest (and jankiest) way to implement 'hidden walls'. :D

Appreciate the feedback!

Controls were really smooth. It was fun to just drive/drift around. Also, the email at the start was a nice touch.  :>

Glad you liked it!

Love the idea of your game, too. :>
I wonder how you implemented the erase mechanic.

(1 edit)

aw,  that's really nice of you! :>
I wish I had more time to iron things out and add more story elements, but I guess that's what everyone else is thinking for their game too lol

Appreciate the kind words!

Glad you liked it! I'm too scared to play your game after seeing that thumbnail hahaha

That's good feedback! I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for playing! :>

I really like the wording in your comments/reviews haha. Thanks for playing! :)

That's great to hear! Thanks for playing. :)
