that's a good point, I should pay more attention to it.
Currently, I'm not planning on releasing a new update for this game specifically, I'm using it as a prototype to develop a full version based on this combat style and release it on Steam.
I will keep this in mind for my next game, thanks a lot for your feedback, and I am sorry for your bad experience while playing it :(

LOL, this is the new record!
I finished in 10 min during my tests, and I created everything hahaha.
I'm currently developing another Idle game based on this one, this time it will be a full-release version with a lot of new content.
I will also change the game's theme, instead of "Zombies" it will be an RPG around my dog! but I will keep the same combat mechanic, where you can choose the difficulty.
It is still in the early stages but I'm posting a development update every day on this discord: https://discord.gg/yQh4ZmD9Db
If you liked this one, I think that you will LOVE the next one, I will make a YouTube video telling more about the game next week when I have more things to show.
Plus: I will never tag @everyone on my discord haha, so you can join and follow the development when you decide.
Thank you for your feedback :)
the idea is to have a drone and weapons to progress faster and have a better time when you finish the game, the drone will shoot automatically but the weapon has a good damage scale, at the end, you are supposed to have a good weapon and a good drone.
The idea around the difficulty, is you make the game harder by upgrading the boss, which is necessary to win, while making your character stronger, if you want to finish the game fast, you will need to take more risks updating the boss more often.
but you are right, it isn't supposed to be a hard game, it's a game where you play against yourself and build a good strategy to win with the best time.
sorry for not mentioning it ingame.
you can also try this version - https://vkaike2.itch.io/zombeez-game-jam-post-jam
is an updated version, and it contains a better behavior, on this new version it works like this, let's say that you have.
1 - head from zombie 01
2 - head from zombie 02
and want to unlock something that costs 3 heads from Zombie 01.
it will take 1 from the first zombie and 2 from the second and unlock for you.
on the current version that you played it is like this:
1 - head from zombie 01
2 - head from zombie 02
and want to unlock something that costs 3 heads from Zombie 01.
it will not allow you to unlock it because it will require 3 heads from zombie 01 or higher, so it will require 3 heads from zombie 02.
I hope that I could explain it properly, thank you for playing it, it means a lot to me.
hey, thanks for playing it.
this game was made for a game jam in only 15 days, this is why it is that short, sorry for that. :)
but if you want there is this version of the game that contains some quality-of-life updates - https://vkaike2.itch.io/zombeez-game-jam-post-jam
like the level, which you mentioned and a tutorial.
I haven't updated this page yet because I have to wait for the voting period of this game jam to end.
I believe that one of my biggest mistakes was to introduce every upgrade at the start. Would be better if I introduced them gradually, for example:
- unlocking the shop only when you collected X amount of coins.
- introducing the player skill tree only when you level up for the first time.
- showing the boss skill tree goal "kill the boss" when you open it for the first time.
Yep, my idea was to create a game where you could limit your own difficulty level, managing risk and rewards.
so if you want to beat the game fast you will need to play risky spawning more zombies than, you and hoping that you will not die.
if you are a beginner and are still learning you could spawn only a few zombies at a time to test things and understand what every upgrade does.
This is a really good mix, I had played a similar game in the past where you had to destroy balloons by drawing the shapes on the screen, but I think that you added a really good twist for it with the abilities, creating different skills.
Would be nice if you could add a version where you could type random words, instead of drawings, to make it easier to play on the PC.
But other than that, it's a really good entry, good job :)
When I was developing the level system I had the idea that the player would have to choose between a "drone" playstyle or a "gun".
but looking back at this aspect of the game, I see that I didn't put much thought into it, the level cap is just arbitrary and it would make more sense to add enough levels to unlock the entire skill tree.
I will fix this after the game jam voting period.
I hope that this mistake didn't ruin your experience :)
