game doesn't start for me :(

Yep, I first tried to find a solution for every number from 0 to 50 using 4 twos, but it was not fun. So I changed the number of twos, played with the buttons available on the calculator, and finally picked the "puzzles" (the numbers) that I found the most interesting. As you see, many of them aren't even integers in the final game. I found it fun to wander on the side of negatives, fractions, powers and square roots too!

Thanks a lot! As you know I enjoyed your entry a lot too! The short music is not due to the size limitation (the game is only 5kb), I just lacked time to do something longer. As a comparison, one of my latest js13k entries contains 165 puzzles and 10 long musics extracted from classical MIDI files, so the size is not a problem if we use the right tools :)

That game is here: https://js13kgames.com/entries/lossst-a-snake-in-space

very cute

cute!

quite amazing

I'm an amateur and maker of geographic quizzes and this one is very well done!

wow

doesn't start :(

Thanks, and yes! We're friends. My game's mechanic appears in "Powered By HI" and his AI appears in my game after level 15 :)

great design, too bad it only supports WASD (should support ZQSD or arrow keys, and use X and C as action keys to accomodate for all players)

welp, congrats, I wouldn't know how to do something so clean with W myself :D

can't move

at least you handle slopes! it's one of the hardest things in video games.

fun and well designed but the character moves too fast and the jumps are hard

Love this entry!

the description says it was made for gamedevjs 2023. did you mean 2024?

Wow, no one went this far!

Thanks a lot for the funny and kind comment, just wanted to say that there is a bit of music. You need to enable it on the top right corner of the screen. Maybe it was too low and you didn't hear it?

thanks! See 36 as a perfect square number ;)

screen stays black at the beginning for me :(

Please don't support WASD only. Arrow keys at least.

one of my favourites so far. I think you could display the population, grid capacity (in number of people) and current month at all times to let the player see how it's going

Thanks! If it may help, 36 is a perfect square :p

An AI helped me :p

1017-ish ;)

very original

very original

Thanks a lot, and yes, it's definitely a real AI... made with a bunch of setTimeouts

Thanks a lot! I have no idea how far it can be done, another player reached 40. I believe many hundreds are possible

Wow thanks! I don't think I used that music before, but it's indees the music of LOSSST with half of the notes removed :p

It's a puzzle. The only button available on the calculator is a two, but it doesn't mean that all the numbers you put in your equation must be twos ;)

hi, thanks! sorry, you played an incomplete version, the final game will be out on april 26

Yep! It's inspired by old flash games :)

More info about how I did it in the making-of: https://xem.github.io/articles/js13k23.html

OK, I'm gonna see if I find something!

Indeed sorry, I focused in the "casual" and "competitive" aspects with the micro puzzles and the special achievements and high scores. Hope it's still okay.

Thanks a lot for your test!

I tried including hints in the first puzzles' texts about the time machine, but indeed it may not have been explicit enough.

The flash game I took for inspiration did let the player figure it out even more than my game.

I noted your suggestion for the music and fullscreen mode and will add them after the votes are complete :)

Thanks a lot! I'm competing with you to win the Overlord prize you know :p

I tried to explain how to time travel in the first level, but sorry if it wasn't clear enough.

Oh you know I'm a simple man, I don't need much (except all the money).

Thanks for playing! :p

I pressed R while rewinding time and softlocked the game :D

The wall collision are a bit too hard. (it's hard to walk between 2 blocks separated by 1 space without being stopped by one of them)

Otherwise, it's a great game with lovely concept, visuals, sound, music, ambiance, level design, and realization.

Congrats!
