When testing, there was a point where I had to add a skip for myself because I made the boss a little too difficult

(1 edit)

That was really cute! I really wish the controls felt a little better, but seeing that you built it without an engine, I can 100% look past that

That was really cool! I loved the map design

I only wish there was more of a reason to be the different size, besides size. That and the camera control felt awkward, so it was hard to figure out exactly how to make jumps. But overall, I enjoyed it, it was fun.

That was really fun!

I can't take all the credit, it was my girlfriend (strailks) and I who made it. She's the one who wrote the music herself, and wrote about half the code. Glad you enjoyed the game!

I'm not sure how you got the rewind clock to not disappear, that one is a new one. For the falling to your doom, the idea was to always go back in time 2 seconds, so it wasn't always safe. It encourages the player to take their time, which makes the level itself more difficult because of the disappearing blocks.

Yeah, we know about that. We wanted the game to be difficult, so that would be part of the challenge. When testing I got annoyed that I would keep getting hit (I'm not great at the game, and we had some levels that were way harder at stages during testing) so a trick I realized is to not try to blitz through it, and wait for a few seconds on a safe block, then keep going. That way you would have something safe to fall back on.  The story was a fun part of creating the game for us, and we got to include a lot of humor in it.

Thanks for the info, I don't own a Mac, but I use Unity's Mac build, so I can't test it, but I try to upload it. I think I know what I did wrong and will fix it for next time. We're glad you enjoyed the game, and the idea for the rewind is that it moves you back 2 seconds no matter what, so we wanted it to sometimes be just a time waster, and end up dropping you without a block to stand on.

It took me a second to register how the direction would work when rewinding. I agree with Lisyarus' comment that a visual for the rewinding would be cool. Overall, it is a cool idea and it is very difficult

That was really fun. I really enjoyed the difficulty progression, and could totally see this as a full mobile game.

I'm a little confused on how the rewind feature works, it seemed to me like it was just the play button again, maybe I am missing something? I also think that the tutorial should be in a little different order, it took me a minute to realize I could double jump, only for that to be the next thing I learned. It is a cool idea though, and the audio and graphics are really nice.

The entire day today, the difficulty was the other way around, but after some balancing, it was more fun with it being difficult, and  we wanted fun instead of an easy time

Thanks, we almost didn't even have a tutorial. I was really worried that people wouldn't be able to follow the game, even with the tutorial
