When will 0.5 be released?

I have no idea when it will be released, does anyone have an idea when?

We don't know either. We're hard at work but it will take a while for it to be ready.

Hey sabin, here's a small update. A LOT of content has already been written and I have begun porting it over to the VN.

  • Chapter 14 is finished. Excluding all the gameplay portions, it's 10k words.
  • Chapter 15 is written and currently being edited, soon I'll begin porting it over to Renpy. It's 34k words. We might split it in two, but the content is done.
  • Chapter 16 is currently being written, 20k words so far. This will be the last chapter of the build.
  • The optional ruthless route content is very close to being done writing, sitting at 38k words (God I hope people give it a chance because we put a lot of work into it)
  • The next Hinterlands portions, which the main story will cut to between chapters, are sitting at about 22k words right now and over halfway done.
  • There's optional introductions to three new guests, kind of like when you first get Luke and Kota. One of them is halfway done, the second is brainstormed and about to begin writing, and the last one is still in planning. These will be kept short so it's not going to take up a lot of our time.

I did a coding revamp for 0.4.1,  and most of the new features are finished. Here's the big one: the MC can do side quests while the staff works on R&D and exploration.



This demands additional content as well so the systems are not barebones and there's plenty to do and replay as soon as 0.5 is released. This includes new R&D rewards, extra scenes with the staff if you give them time off (so far there are a couple for Luke but we might keep these at a minimum since the build is taking so long already), a sidequest to add an optional guest, and a side project for Asterion to work on. Some of these are done, but we want to get this fucking build out already so I expect we will add more with smaller builds in between big releases.

The sprites for most of the new characters are done, there's one last optional guest we have to design. I still have to make assets like CGs and a couple of backgrounds and NPCs, but the bulk of the art is done already.


So, yeah, I'm really sorry it's been a such a long wait, but it will be worth it when 0.5 is eventually released. The content we already have is way bigger than build 0.3. We're working at a REALLY good pace now, but I don't feel confident in making an estimate for a release date yet. I can wait, and be patient,I can understand if it delay cause you need more time . I just want to know when it we be released, like  a schedule .  Great work by the way, you do amazing work.

ohh i hope there's a side quest to add a elevator i always get scared that Asterion is gonna slip with his hooves and just fall down the entire flight of stairs

That's not a bad idea actually, we can make it a small R&D project. I think Asterion and the MC would end up walking up the stairs anyway, since they enjoy each other's company and it's a nice way to bond and talk about their day. But still you can't overlook accessibility.

Sabin, my last reply on the subject was two weeks ago and I made it clear that we have a lot of work ahead of us before 0.5 is done.
We actually put out a more elaborate devlog with a progress report three days ago explaining in detail what's done and what's missing: https://minoh.itch.io/minotaur-hotel/devlog/219156/january-progress-report

We can make progress reports like the previous devlog to let you guys know how we're doing, because I know people get anxious about projects being abandoned. We're working at a really good pace, we frequently post new assets on Twitter to let you guys know that we're not just slacking off.  But we can't answer this question every week, we're at the very least going to need two more months. It will be done when it's done.

We're about to post a devlog about it!
Long story short: we made some progress writing chapter 16, the ruthless route content is completely ported over to the VN with almost all assets including new sprites, backgrounds and CGs done (some of which will be used in the other chapters so this will expedite things a little). I'll start porting over chapter 15 to the VN soon.

Sabin, bud, you keep asking this every other week. It will be out when it's out. We'll be making a monthly progress report soon, as usual, because we know it's been a while since 0.4 and people are anxious. I'm happy to let you know that March was super productive for us and we have plenty to show for it, but even after we're done writing (we're getting there), there's still a lot of content that needs editing, polishing, and art assets. I can confirm you that we're definitely not releasing it next month, probably not in May either. We'll let you guys know when we have a release date. Until then, please be patient.

Very well, I  will wait and stop asking , but the only reason I'm asking is cause this game just that good, I love this game!

We just posted the progress devlog for April. Sorry for the delay, we had a busy week.

If all goes well, we'll have 0.5 out by late June or July. We still have some writing to do to wrap up the build, but when the writing is finished and all that's left is implementing the final chapters  on RenPy and polishing everything up, we'll post a release date.

I get the feeling the game update won't be release by the end of July, for some reason?

Try and give the devs all the time they need. If the update won't be released by the end of July for whatever reason, then so be it. Stop pushing them and try to understand that when the update is perfectly ready to be released, then they will release it.

We put out a devlog 5 days ago where we said that we can't tell if we'll get there, but early to mid August may be more likely.
We update people frequently and regularly on how the build is doing, and we post lots of assets to back what we say. If we don't make it, it's not the end of the world, that means the end product will be more polished and have more content. We always make a point not to promise a release date and get people's hopes up until we know we can deliver, so we wouldn't be breaking any promises by delaying it a little more.

There's no need to be sarcastic about it.

Micro update while I'm at it: we're all hands on deck for chapter 18, and the first draft is 60% done. There's a lot that still needs to be edited and it's gonna take a while to move the remaining content over to Ren'Py, but I'm working ahead by getting the backgrounds and assets. I'm typing this right after finishing the build's last cg.

I'm wondering if in the new version of the gallery mode it will be possible to watch the scenes that will be available in your game, give an answer
