After playing for a while, I managed to beat the game in just 3 jumps.

First of all, what's a jump?
Pressing jump on the ground is jump. Grace jumping is also a jump.
Grace jumping from a dash is not a jump though, so you can do that.
Wall jumping is not a jump.
And jumping on a spike is not a jump.

With these rules, you can beat the game with just 3 jumps.
This is not a tutorial on how to do it, but if people want to see how, I can make a video on it.

Good luck?

Edit: I lowered it down to 1 jump, so yay have fun
Edit2: Video guide:

Edit3, feb 2024: Lowered it to 0!!

I would love to see how you did it

Lol, just recently I lowered it down to 1, maybe I will make a video on it now

(1 edit)

I wander what the number will be if we considered any c press as a jump

edit: i got it to 47 but i think it can get lowered

(2 edits)

I got 47 as well(wow). I got 5 jumps on 1900, but I think that one can be lowered.

Edit: Probably not :C

WOW! I coyote jump doesnt count, right?

(1 edit)

Nope, coyote jumps don't count, but coyote jumping out of a dash does count.

Edit: Other way around oops
You are not allowed to coyote jump, but you are allowed to coyote jump out of a dash.

Very late comment but I managed to beat the Celeste CLassic Mod (Fuji) In 1 jump (I think you can beat it jump less but I'm just not that good at spike clips) Anyway hopefully someone will make a No Jump video for Fuji (walljumps allowed)

I managed to lower it down to 0, I suspect your jump was on 1500m? You can do a spike walljump there and just barely reach the end. Nice job otherwise!

How did you do in 1700?

(3 edits)

So actually this was impossible, I couldn’t do it. Was impossible. I literally just figured out a way to do it.

The problem with 1700 was that everything is just high enough where dash-grace jumps don’t gain enough height to finish the level, and ofc the speedrun strategy jumps by necessity.

What I noticed was that there’s a strawberry here, and a strawberry hitboxes move. Because of the position of the strawberry, you are able to pop open the box, wait for the strawberry to move to its lowest point, then intercept it. You need to fall into the strawberry, but time it so that you collect the strawberry and dash up in almost the same frame, which will give you a free extra dash. Dash up again, spike clip, and then etc

Surprisingly consistent. Uses a spike jump, but this is a victory nonetheless

Edit: You can skip the spike jump by dash-jumping instead

Boom, video complete

Harika

you gud?

all berries can be collected with 5 jumps, the extra jumps are in 400m (1) 700m(2) and 1400m(1)

Umm... I kinda feel that grace jumping after a dash is like a ground jump because the reason why you can do that is because I think it still considers your on the ground. Though that's why I decided to reroute the whole thing but now grace jumping after a dash is a jump (also I think it should be called beating the game in blank amount of ground jumps and not jumps since there's jump in wall jump but oh well). Since you can't grace jump out of a dash anymore, what you can do is wall jump of the floor instead of ground jumping of the ground like this which is what like what Parchment did in 500m. Most of the time this is the solution:

If you can't wall jump of the floor you can just dash. Since I can't spam this whole posts with my GIFs, I skipped showing levels that either is the same to what Parchment did (400m) or levels that can easily be routed using the method of just wall jumping of the floor. I will also add GIFs of levels that can be way easier than Parchment showed. I will just add text descriptions for some levels if they are easy to explain in words. A few more other things to note a spike's hitbox is smaller than it looks (900m and 1500m) and you can actually be quick enough to wall jump off a breakable block you stepped on (1000m and 2800m)...

In order: 200m, 300m, 500m, 600m, (For 700m, just do it normally but dash instead of jump no need to cloud jump), (For 1100m, you can wall jump of the breakable block, get to the higher place to wall jump then stall for the cloud like in 600m), 1500m, 1900m (No need to spike clip), 2400m, 2700m

Sorry if there is so much GIFs... For this run, you need 6 jumps. One in 1100m when jumping off the cloud in the most left side where you don't have much height by just jumping, one in1300m when reaching for the first balloon, one in 1700m, the same situation with Parchment, one in 1800m jumping from the cloud to the balloon or the floor to the balloon, one in 2300m and one in 2600m when jumping up above the spikes since you don't have enough height. It was fun routing all of this. Obviously you need more jumps but hey...

Very nice!

I decided to try it without dash grace jumps and managed to lower it to 2, 1 in 1300, 1 in 1700, and 1 in 2600...

In 1100 it's possible to do a spike jump on that leftmost side and then continue as normal

In 1800, it's very tight, but you can just barely reach that first balloon by getting to it at it's lowest pixel

And in 2300 you are able to do the same trick as before

Also it might be possible to get one off of 2600, but I'm not sure, I keep dying at the brown X in the image
EDIT: Wait... you could do the gemskip strategy to beat it... give me a bit to do that
EDIT 2: did it

It's kinda hilarious to me that I missed those simpler solutions and chose much more annoying solutions like in 2400 and 1900 lol, thanks for those

(+1)

Wow... I was thinking also of doing spike jumps in 1100 but it was kinda tricky so I wasn't able to make sure if it was possible. I also wasn't able to do 2300 without a jump because I couldn't really do the trick you did so I also couldn't make sure it was possible. For 1800 I didn't think of that. I was thinking from the cloud up to the balloon by spike jump. Didn't think of that way. 2600, I did not watch any gemskips of the original I didn't know that strat. But anyways that's really cool to see that you can still do the whole game with one jump without doing grace jumps after a dash.

1300m no grace jumps and jumps

That's really cool, good find!

Also, you can do the 1700m speedrun strat (with some timing changes) to complete 1700m with 1 grace jump and no normal jumps. It's hard to do but I've almost done it so I know it's possible

(+1)

Since I found this challenge fun I decided to do the strawberries also.

1 Jumps in 400m (Use Speedrun Strats)

3 Jumps in 700m (Use the regained dash from the berry so you won't have to jump again off the cloud)

1 Jumps in 1400m (Use spike clip)

Here are some ways to avoid jumping in Old Site and 1300m (I did a spike clip there like what Parchment did though no need to change polarity):

Also while routing this, I found another way to do 1500m:

(1 edit)

Yea this challenge is fun

It's  a bit tight, but in 400m you can also get here without jumping, but I couldn't get to the strawberry without an extra jump, so that was a bust, but it does open up some new options

Edit: also a slightly easier way to do old site

700m can be done in 2 jumps, you can use wall jumps from the left side of the starting platform to get to the first layer of clouds.

That's the first thing I tried, but the only times I could get to that layer was from accidently grace jumping, not wall jumping. Maybe you mistook a grace jump for a wall jump?

(1 edit)

what is grace jumping? did i missed something?

Grace  jumping also known commonly as coyote jumping is when you go of the platform and jump even when not touching the ground which is normally intended by the developer. As for 1300m, it depends whether you consider doing a grace jump after a dash allowed or not. If you don't, you would do it as intended by jumping up to the first balloon, dashing diagonally and so on since there's no solution to avoiding jumping in 1300m. If you consider it to be allowed, follow the video posted by Parchment. If you still don't understand, you can search up the celeste classic glossary which might explain it better.

oh that i get it

how do you do 13

Ik this is an old post, but I wanted to show this, the closest I've gotten to removing the 1 jump. I've tried many, many methods, but this one is the closest that I've found. (and, hilariously, the easiest lol)

Also wanted to show this alternate method to 1900 M, if spikejumps are too hard for anyone.

This one jump will haunt me, I think.

Brilliant 1900M method, much easier than mine. Very nice!

(+1)

NP!

Also wanted to mention for anyone else reading this, the main methods that I tried for the gosh dang one jump were corner kicking off of that corner and continuing from there, dashing diagonally up from the spring onto the wall, and getting onto that platform to the left with the spikes on it. For the first two it left me with no dash, meaning I couldn't get any higher than a single wall jump. For the walking on spikes, There's nothing much else to do considering I can't jump off of it...

(1 edit) (+1)

A little bit of an update post. The game is actually possible to beat with no jumps under these rules. (2 if spike jumps are illegal)

I explain this in a different comment, but basically wait until the strawberry in 1700 is at its lowest, fall into it, timing it such that you can dash up and collect it in the same frame. You will get another dash, so dash up again, spike jump, then its a success.

Edit: You can dash-jump instead of spike jumping

Huh. Never thought I'd see this challenge be totally beaten lol.

Great job!
