'In development' status on pages and front page features

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm gearing up to announce a game, and I don't want to unintentionally screw myself over here.

The question is this. If you make a page for your game, and make it public as 'in development', once the game is actually released, have you any less of a chance of making it to the front page of the site as it's not a completely new announcement and less likely to be noticed by whoever curates these things?

Basically, I want to announce my game, amd have somewhere to send people from social media in the run-up to it being released. I'm assuming the answer is "no", as it would disadvantage those who do early access/prototype, etc,  but I could do with finding out for sure.

As far as I’m aware, projects are curated for the front page only if they are completed. In fact, games are being picked manually for the front page, based on a number of factors, assuming it’s a “good enough” game. So I wouldn’t be surprised if a game still in development was also picked.

When you mark your project from “In development” to it being finished, make sure to make a devlog marked “Major Update”, so that your game will be “re-launched” as a newly released game (pending manual approval from Itch).

Aha, maybe not such a dumb question, then. Yeah, this is the sort of information I was after - thanks for the reply!

I think when uploading a game, it could be released as complete game, just not for all viewers. Only for you or additional users who know its link, and it would appear "saved as draft", I guess? I've never tried using this option yet, at least for my first game I was clicking it to see if the page looks okay, visuals being noticeable, etc.
