Soulash

Soulash is a fantasy roguelike where you play as a forgotten god set on destroying the world. · By Artur Smiarowski

Wait? I saw a video on Youtube .. but when I bought the game it looks different?

So I saw the video on youtube where it said Graphics Update. But after I bought the game it is version .5 and looks way worse? So you released a demo with the Graphics update by the paid game doesn't have it?  Is that right?

I see now there is a warning .. sigh.

Important: The tileset is only available in the gfx-demo version as a showcase of how it will look in the full version. Graphics mod will be added to the full game in 2022 when version 1.0 releases. Currently, only ASCII is supported.

Well fuck me.

I'm not really interested in playing the ascii version of the game. Not the end of the world, but definitely feel like there should be a bigger warning hahaha.

I definitely feel a little bamboozled.

I'm sorry for the confusion, we've released the trailer for our Kickstarter campaign with the demo version to gather funds to create the full version. I wouldn't want you guys to feel cheated, so please contact itch.io support for a refund if you're not interested in the current version.

Nah .. it's 15 bucks and I can imagine what it's like being an indie developer.  Keep the money .. buy a couple coffees and I will check back in when it's released.

Did the same thing, but I will check back when the graphic update is available, you deserve the support.

I'm wondering if this purchase can be linked to Steam?

Yes, I plan to send the Steam keys on release. Sorry for the confusion.

No apologies needed! Keep up the good work and let me know if I can help

I used to do mapping for Tibia way way back and this is a project I would like to support in any way :D

Ah, Tibia, good times. :) The best way to help right now is to spread the word about the game and add some extra content through modding editors in the game. After the 0.7 release, the Steam Workshop will be very high on my list.

Vying for workshop integration is an excellent thing to incorporate early, def helps not only in getting your game promoted, but also empowers its long term survival. Mass props!

Awesome. Was wondering about that as I assume Workshop will be a big hit with the game.  A lot of stuff is so easy to mod even I could do it.

To anyone who did the same thing but still wants to play:

Download the demo and copy the gfx_core_mod folder to your mod folder in the full version of the game

It's incomplete and clunky but most of the generally used gfx are included like walls and mountains.

I haven't tinkered around with it.  Loading the game won't load graphics though so you get a hardcore playthrough :p

So you can play if you're afraid of ASCII like me
