New horizons doesn't have start.ini file

I just downloaded the maelstrom engine in order to play the new horizon mod, thing is, I got abit lost on what to do with the maelstrom.exe that i extracted from DirectX9_64bit folder.

Am I supposed to build path for the game folder with "Start In:" on the "Maelstrom.exe" or on the "Maelstrom New Horizons.exe".

Furthermore, the new horizon mod main game folder doesn't have a start.ini file in its directory at all. the only similar file I saw in the Pirates of the Caribbean folder was a engine.ini file, so I tried to rename it to start.ini but it didn't help the situation.

https://ibb.co/5BD8f0w <------ (Error Image I get)

https://we.tl/t-4z7C6IvGNl <--------(system log file)

(This happens when I click the Maelstrom New Horizons.exe file in the gentlemen-of-fortune-maelstrom-engine folder.)

I would like a more clear explanation on what to do in order to start the mod lol cause I got abit confused

It is in root directory of the engine's archive. Just rename start.example.ini to start.ini.

Yea I saw that file, renaming it doesn't seem to work, still not clear what am I suppose to do with it...

This looks like you perhaps installed the cd version of POTC from Bethesda into your Maelstrom\games directory.  That is incorrect, so don't do that; you don't need the original game for any of this.  Instead, your NH directory should look like this:

You will see that my path is E:\MaelstromItch\games\new-horizons, so I would make my shortcut Start in: E:\MaelstromItch\games\new-horizons.  Also, if you have a 64 bit operating system, like Win10, you might also consider changing the Target: path to DirectX9_64bit\Maelstrom.exe, because your screenshot of the your error shows that you are using the 32 bit version of Maelstrom.exe.

Works like a charm, thanks

The game works great but there's an issue with the dialogs, each person I go to talk to there's a voice saying "I see you were raised by a butcher" lol and it happens to everyone I talk to. Any idea what's that about?

That is an issue with the dialog scripts in New Horizons and as far as I know, a couple people are still working on the details.  I don't personally support New Horizons, but I do assist them occasionally if they have questions.

go to resource/sounds/voice/english and replace Dut_m_a_045.wav with a file that is just silent

won't stop it from playing the file but if its silent there's nothing to hear (they are working on it)
