update: check the replies in this thread to get your gamepad to work

gonna try with a PS3 controller but kinda funny if you think about it lol

actually i loaded the game through Steam as a Non-Steam Game and started it up via Big Picture Mode and I THINK it works, gonna test a little

okay yeah. i only tried walking around and using the camera and only R1 attacked but it seems the game wants an Xinput device, which i have Steam set to make my PS4 controller into an Xinput gamepad

If nothing works download DS4Windows, it allows you to map a PS4 Controller to any button on your keyboard, also allows windows to detect a PS4 controller as an Xbox360 one.

Steam cuts out the need for that but if someone is trying to not use Steam for some reason DS4Windows works just the same i think

can analog sticks work this way ?

@wheelchairgam3r yes it does! just tried. after you start the game in Big Picture mode, press Shift and Tab, then click Controller Configuration, then set to how you want. i duped L2 and R2 to my Right Analog stick Left and Right movement.

would it work with a generic genius controller?

as long as Steam recognizes it and can emulate it as an Xinput device idk why not

Thanks a lot! I made a PS4 controller setup guide  (using DS4 Windows) for those who'd rather follow a video:

nice!

Wow, I had no idea Steam could launch non-steam apps!

I use DS4Win but I vastly prefer Steam control config.

yes! i even used it to map my Guitar Hero controller (although i think that also needed WiiHID as a driver) to play games like the Soulsborne series on the GH controller and it worked better than JoyToKey or other softwares in a lot of cases!

pretty much every time a game like this doesnt work with my gamepad if i add it as a non-Steam game and launch it in Big Picture it works

Bump because people are still saying their controllers aren't working.

bump again cause im one of those people with a ps4 controller that doesnt register. Running windows 7 lmao

Are you running it through Steam?
