Slow speeds inside of Heresphere on Quest 2

Not sure if this is a Quest 2 problem or not, but I only see this speed issue occur inside of Heresphere. I noticed that streaming videos from XBVR was causing frame drops and freezes and was able to pinpoint that when running a speedtest using the web browser in heresphere, I'm limited to around 5-10 Mbps down. However, when running a speedtest in the Oculus browser, I get 500 Mbps+. This really only causes issues for higher bitrate videos, but wondering if there is a solution outside of potentially using SMB.

That's strange. On my Quest 2 in HereSphere, I get over 100Mbps download, and over 250Mbps upload with speedtest by Ookla. Is your xbvr server wired to your router, or is it also using wifi? I'm able to play 100Mbps videos over XBVR without any issues. If you exceed 200Mbps bitrate, then the Quest 2 might just not be able to decode the video fast enough (rather than it being a wifi issue).

The XBVR server is connected to the router through Ethernet and I double checked again that my Quest is using 5Ghz WiFi connection. Still having the same speed discrepancy from inside the HereSphere app. The file I was having issues with was roughly 30000Kbps (not sure I'd even want to store a 200Mbps bitrate file). Might do a reset of the Quest 2 and reinstall Heresphere to check if there's just some random issue.

Can you try copying the file to your headset and playing it there, just to confirm it's not actually a playback issue? It could be you're trying to play a h264 video that's over 4k resolution (instead of an h265 file), which would result in slow playback due to the lack of hardware accelerated decoding.

Seems like playing the file back on the headset on local storage doesn't have any issues compared to streaming through XBVR.

Can you try playing the file with SMB, or copying the file to another storage drive and adding that to XBVR? Else, have you tried doing a full network reset (modem, router, and your devices)?

Hi HereSphere! I have an original quality 8k video that's right at 199Mbps and it has .5 second freezes every 5 seconds or so on the heresphere over wifi. I get 350Mbps down inside the heresphere app on my wifi so am thinking it may be a hardware limit of the quest 2. Do you think that's the case?

Actually I've been trying out a bunch of files and 125Mbps is the highest bitrate I can play on quest2 over wifi.

I don't have any videos above 125Mbps to test, so I can't say for certain whether the app can play those files smoothly. Is the device you're using to provide the video files connected directly to your router with an ethernet cable? Maybe that'll help improve the speeds. You can also try lowering the playback speed (there's an input box in the bottom of the seekbar) to see if that helps reduce the freezing.
