Thoughts on game asset search improvements

Hello!

I have some thoughts on some ways that Itch's browsing features could be improved to make it easier to find game assets. This is an area that I feel could be improved.

For example, let's say I need footstep sounds for a game I'm making.

My first thought would be to type "footsteps sfx" into the search bar. This brings up a lot of results, but there seems to be no option to sort or filter the results. I might for example want to sort by price to find affordable packs, or I might want to include only paid assets, but this doesn't seem to be possible. I might even find games or visual assets if my search term isn't specific enough.

Alternatively, I might instead click "Browse", then select "Game Assets", and then click "Sound Effects" on the left. In this area there are a couple of features not seen in the search area, such as filtering and sorting, which is good. However, there seems to be no way to search for a specific term in the "Browse" section. As a result it could be difficult to find what I'm after if I need something specific. For example if I needed "Footsteps on Asphalt" sounds, this would be challenging to find without being able to type the keyword "Asphalt".

As a result, it seems that it isn't possible to both search for a specific keyword and also filter/sort the results. To me it seems that the best solution would be for the search area (the area appearing when you use the main search bar) to have additional sorting and filtering features such as those that are present in the "browse" area. This would mean you could easily make very precise searches, which could be beneficial to both asset creators and customers in need of assets.

Thanks,
Matt
