1. When is the next update expected?
Or...
2. Do you plan to release the open source code of the editor?

jessicochan is busy with other stuff, so updates will come when he can get to them, for bug fixes only. he does not plan to add new features, the engine is now just in maintenance status.
as to the open source, he has said before that he does not plan to release the source code.
so if you mean "the editor is finished" as in "dead" then no, i dont think so. if you mean "the editor is finished" as in "feature complete" then yes, it's finished.
it is capable as is of making good games. it's not perfect, and doesn't have all the features that some of us would like to see, but it has achieved its goal of enabling people to make simple wolf3d / doom-ish retro fps games. there are bugs, alot of bugs, and they will be squashed eventually. give him time.
1) Someday this year. Unless shit hits the fan even more with what's happening in the world right now
2) The editor? Oh, the editor might go open source. But it would give people literally nothing, as the engine is not part of the editor. I don't know. The code is too messy. On the other hand when I'll stop supporting the engine it will surely go open source.
We hope that the situation will improve soon!
My wording must have been mistranslated by Deepl from Hungarian to English... Or he could have given it a different meaning! :D
So, I meant that the EFPS editor as open source could be completely open source (like the editor and the engine) so that those who can do so can add whatever they like.
Personally, I would be very interested in this. Not that it matters much.
Anyway... We'll see what happens in the future! :)
Thanks for your answer anyway!
