Linux, Lutris and extra installs for windows games?

Hi guys!

I use linux and Lutris for windows games. Some games, lutris asks me to install something extra along the the lines of gecko or an extra .net package etc. Usually pressing cancel and/or changing runner works fine. Some games need these requirements, and Ive installed these extra bits in the past, Im just a little shy doing it with a bunch of random games from random amateur devs while testing new/free games here.

I've let lutris install packages before and its usually been ok, but sometimes upset other programs on my system.

Anyone experienced with linux/lutris?  Id like your ideas on the topic. Is allowing lutris to download/install extra .NET/gecko for the sake of a game safe?

the best thing will be that you ask directly in the Lutris forum

https://forums.lutris.net/

I have not used Lutris, but from what you say, a problem may be that Lutris does not check if you already have the dependency. For example, if a game requires NET 5.0, Lutris tries to install it, even if you already have NET 5.1 installed. That's why the game still works for you if you cancel the NET installation.

But the best thing is that you consult it directly in their forum, which will be more likely to be answered by people who know the program.
