This has happened about 3 times in the span of a week. I tried different keybindings to make sure it isn't something I did by mistake. Then tried different documents. In some it would paste a random paragraph from the same document, but in some it wouldn't. Not sure if it's a bug or if I'm doing something wrong. The platform is M1 mac!

I have not seen that before!

Does it occur if you right click to open the menu, and then use the arrow keys and enter to select the spelling suggestion, instead of the mouse?

Do you have any other apps or utilities which might affect paste or text operations?

Do you have anything very strange in your custom spelling suggestion dictionary for some reason? It’s located in ~/Library/Application Support/Deepdwn/Custom Dictionary.txt

I have no other apps or utilities that could affect paste or text operations.

There is no Dictionary.txt in the directory. I haven't added any custom words to the dictionary.

For a moment, while writing this I couldn't replicate the behavior. But when I went back to recheck it happened, both with mouse and using arrow and enter keys.

Hmm, very strange!

  • Does it only occur with words at the end of documents as in your two videos, or does it occur in other places as well?
  • Is the content that gets pasted always in your document somewhere else?
  • Does it occur on short documents, with a paragraph and then the spelling error? Do you find it happens more on long or short documents?
  • Does it occur when “Display entire document at once” is checked? This is a setting in Preferences > Accessibility that controls the display of offscreen content
  • It occurs on the last paragraph of a document, regardless of the length of the paragraph, and whether it's on the first, middle, or last line. Anything before the last paragraph, works like normal.
  • The content that is pasted is usually from the same document or something from another document that is written very recently.
  • Both! Created a new document and it happened all the same.
  • Enabled "Display entire document at once" and the same behavior happened. Tried toggling on and off "Align heading text" and it still happened.

I deleted the app using cleanmymac, reinstalled, and the same behavior happened.

Moved the library off iCloud to Documents and the same happened.

I think it could be either an M1 thing since I haven't tried the x64 version , or a bug with the spellchecker.

It only happens once in a while, but once it happens it keeps recurring even if you move to a different document.

I've been able to replicate the behavior by using the spellcheck a lot. So I think that it's likely that it happens after using the spellcheck for a certain amount of times, which explains why it only happened before once every a few days.

I’m sorry that I don’t have an answer for you currently. I’ll keep digging in to it, but I haven’t found a cause or solution for you yet.

I’d be curious to know if it happens with the x64 version, but I’m guessing it will, and whether it occurs on other machines if you have any available to test with.

I tried the x64 version and the same behavior happened. I think it's safe to say that it has to do with the spellchecker. I don't have another machine to test with.

What mac OS version are you using?

Does the issue occur if you boot in safe mode? (I’m not actually sure deepdwn will launch in safe mode, but would be good to know)

Have you noticed any similar issues in other applications?

(+1)

I'm using Ventura 13.4.1

I booted into safe mode. Deepdwn launched and worked as usual in safe mode. And the same spellchecker issue happened.

I haven't noticed any issues with other applications.
