Need constructive Feedback for Freedom Knight Game

Hello Amigos, and comrade

I've finished to develop this game in 2013. Yeah it's 10 years ago, and I used old game maker.

This game is still unpolished and newbie design, but let's call it as prototype.

I have an idea to remake this game into modern game by using Unity or other tools

so I need your honest but constructive comment or  feedback about this game.

I don't mind  called this game really bad, but please give the review and  reason so I decide the future of this game

my questions may help you to give feedback:

  1. How about the genre? should I keep it as arcade  or change it into other genre, for example 2D Platformer?
  2. How about the game idea and concept ?
  3. What feature should I add?
  4. Other opinion.

Hi! I played your game and I have some feedback:

1. The genre is fine, you can do what you want with it. Making it a platformer might be an interesting spin, if you somehow still kept the Pac man elements

2. The concept has good story quality, but isn't anything particularly new (that's not necessarily a bad thing)

3. The different enemy types and stuff are good additions, maybe a character/powerup selection, or a custom mode?

4. Overall the game is fine! Maybe a little repetitive. It would be better with some kind of incentive for killing the enemies other than progressing to the next level, maybe lore based. I did find that:

  • Wall collisions are a little awkward (player backs up a little when colliding)
  • Player moves very slowly (this is fixed when in knight mode, but still)
  • Grammar mistakes here and there
  • When you lose you go all the way back to the home screen
  • Some of the dialogue is a bit unpolished, and the game feels rather amateurish

Other than those, it's good. I liked some of the sound effects (like when you clear a level, it's a funny song lol)

Have a nice morning/day/night!

Thank you for your feedback.

I just want to classify  "Player moves very slowly (this is fixed when in knight mode, but still)" actually I made the MC  in human form slower to show the different power between human form, and Knight form . Maybe I made it too slow.

I really appreciated all your feedback. I will  consider them as the basis to rejuvenate this project

Best Regard

No problem, I'm happy to help!

Feel free to try my game out as well, over here! Please tell me what you think and comment on the game page, I could really use the feedback :)

The player moves very slowly. This makes each level agonizingly boring. I honestly thing this is the only major issue, gameplay-wise. The slow movement prevents the gameplay from 'flowing', like it would if you were playing something like Pac-Man (The diamond in your game is very similar to that big pill that allows you to eat the ghosts, so I was reminded of Pac man).

Music is on point though

Thank you for the feedback

and yes. The inspiration for this game are Pac-man and Kamen rider.

about the slow MC, actually I wanted to make the difference between human form and Knight form. However I'll consider it for the future project.

Best Regards,

I haven't played the game, but I noticed it looks like you're using RPG maker assets, but the game is made in Game Maker. You should know that using RTP RPG Maker assets in any engine outside of RPG Maker is against their rules, so I'd suggest switching them out.

(I hope I'm not coming of as antagonistic, I just thought it would be good to know. I doubt Kadokawa, or whoever owns the licence, will notice but still. Better err on the safe side.)

Thank you for the feedback

Yes, I have notice that very long time ago because I made this game more than 10 years ago, and I'm also RPG maker user. That's why I did not open any donation for this game, and put all assets' resource in the credits as my respect to  Kadokawa and their original maker .

Just clarifications.  they're not 100% RPG maker VX Ace original Assets,  I used Character Generator for RPG maker VX Ace that developed by RPG maker fans, not Kadokawa's generator yet. Also the "head and shoulder" character pictures were created by fans in RPG maker forum  that inspired from original RPG maker VX Ace character photo.

However, my goals to upload  this game are gathering some feedbacks about the game (Genre, concept, gameplay  etc) from global audiences after more than 10 years, I kept it for smaller community, like friends.

I want use the feedback as the consideration whether I must remake the game use newest tech, or abandon it and move on to other game.

Best Regards
