Hello! Please let me know if you have any feedback about the game. I would love to know the painpoints and any suggestions you might have!

hello, I played for about 30 minutes. I can see potential, but to be honest some things were definitely pain points

- the camera feels way too zoomed in, I would back it up a bit. It gets a little disorienting

- the enemy designs/player/interactive items really stick out in a bad way. The background has a much more detailed and organic style, whereas the enemies, player and some object look like simple children’s book illustrations. It makes the art style seem disjointed

- the terrain textures look too much like textures. You can see the obvious tiles repeating, which looks strange with this type of art style (as opposed to pixel art). The underground area looks good but the surface terrain just looks off

- the UI, text, map, etc also don’t feel very well designed. The script font, hierarchy of sizes, and art style just need a redesign.

Idk, it seems like 2 different artists were working on this without deciding a cohesive style together.   I really think the art style needs to be mainly focused on, because it really just distracts from the gameplay

Hi Samthefireball, I really appreciate the feedback!

I agree with you on many of your criticisms of the art. I'm continuously improving it, but I can assure you it's only been one artist (me!) working on this game. When first beginning to create assets for this game, I had few conventions set in stone, and often experimented a little to find the right style. Now that I have done so, it's going to take some time to update some of those earlier made assets.

As per your camera suggestion, I have noted it and will keep an eye out for similar feedback. Camera zoom is one thing that is subjective. I've had feedback that it's not zoomed in enough as well! If I have time, maybe I will make it a settings configuration :D

Thanks again for the helpful feedback!
