Hello there, I recently had an idea for a card battle game that could be made physically instead of digital (although it could be upgraded to digital if it catches enough interest) and wanted to ask if anyone knows of any sections or places where I can take a look to try getting some help creating this kind of game?

I know card games aren't as popular for demand but I thought it would be a fun one to experiment with

I imagine the tabletop community on itch will have lots of posts that you can learn from.

I would recommend just making a prototype for now (no fancy art) and aim to make your card game something to enjoy between you, family and friends. If it takes off then make it into a more commercial product.

And without stirring up an argument...AI can help create batch artwork. Some devs have made card games with art that can rival Magic within a week.

Hope that helps and best of luck :)

If you are successful with creating your physical version, and if you then want to go digital with it, I can recommend giving Tabletop Simulator a look. It's the perfect link between both worlds - as a prototype tool as well as a platform of its own (it has a huge community and player base).

Thank you looks like an awesome mechanic

What sorts of things would you like to do in your game?
Are you looking for alpha/beta testers for particular mechanics?

I could round up some people and give you feedback if you'd like.

I would need some play testers eventually, but at the moment I'm trying to get the list of cards down and then have to try making some temporary cards to use for testing

Card battle can take many directions.

Most people are familiar with the rules for Magic The Gathering; but there are also many many other game formats as well!

In Colossal Arena, for instance, you are a wealthy aristocrat who bets on the outcomes of which monster will win the arena battle. All sorts of sneaky tricks are pulled to make your gambled money worth it. Link here: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/105/colossal-arena The role of the player changes the feel of the game.

I would highly recommend taking a look at many other games on Boardgame Geek and seeing what mechanics they have there.

Thank you for the information.

So far I have a good idea for mechanics just need to create the prototype of the cards and do a few practice matches to experiment with other players
