Vermins - A strategy game of insects fighting

A few days ago, I published on itch.io my first video game ever! I decided to make it available for free, although I worked hard on it!

It was an idea I had for some time, and I started working on it a year ago. I plan to keep on working on the game a bit to improve it based on the feedback I got, so I would be really glad to get some!

It's an isometric, turn-based strategy game where you start by creating your team, and then explore different regions to try and defeat the giant of the region. There are 24 classes to unlock by visiting the different regions and defeating every type of vermin. You can also play against a friend, and I would particularly like to hear the experience of someone who tried local multiplayer (as I haven't yet).

The biggest problem I've had was with balance, because I added a lot of content, which made it that much harder to make the different classes and spells balanced.  So whether your feedback concerns a specific aspect of the game (something too powerful, too weak, something that could have been better) or is something more generic about the game, I would be very thankful, as it would allow me to keep on improving the game to make it more fun!

So, what do you think?

Thank you :)

This is a pretty creative and innovative game!

I can tell how much work and passion you put in. The concept of all the characters being vermin that are usually disliked is pretty great, it definitely helps the immersion. The gameplay is a little confusing for me, I think an in-depth but fairly short tutorial would help out a bunch. It's kind of hard to understand, at least right off the bat, what spells would be most advantageous for which vermin, but it is clear what they do and their effects.

I'm going to trust that the amount of content you put in is balanced, because the system seems rather fair to me from what I played. I would appreciate a simplified approach to things, for players that are relatively new to the genre like myself, but it isn't necessary for making the game more fun. Perhaps as the player starts off, they are rewarded for learning the basics of the game in the tutorial with satisfying victories; This can include fights against enemies that are really easy to beat. And this can be completely optional, for more seasoned players.

I also made my first game on itch, I could totally use your feedback on it: https://wasabiiii.itch.io/grass-elemental-demo-demo

I want more people to play this and enjoy it!

First off, thank you so much for the time you took to play my game and write this, this is incredibly helpful and heartwarming!

I'm going to go ahead and add a tutorial I think, I realize the game is not very accessible in the current state, so thank you very much for pointing that out.

I'm going to play your game as well and let you know what I think of it! Thank you so much
